We were lucky enough to meet past pupil and all-star Charlie Harrison who works for the GAA at Croke Park. He was delighted to talk with the group about his time at Summerhill. The Expo was a very useful event to showcase the talents of TY students and what is expected of a senior cycle PE student.

Erasmus Programme KA229 Summerhill College has teamed up with schools from Italy and Spain to work on the Erasmus Programme. The programme, which takes place over the course of two school years, is aimed at “Developing an Understanding of our European Cultural Heritage Using Emerging Technologies.” During the first year of the project staff, from the schools involved, meet to plan the various projects and student visits. This work commenced with the first meeting taking place in Zaragoza, Spain during November 2018. The second meeting took place in Arzignano, Italy last week with staff from all three schools gathering to plan, exchange ideas and receive inservice for the development of all the projects. The initiatives will combine three key areas namely modern foreign languages, educational robotics and the hugely successful Raise Your IQ programme. A selection of students from each of the schools will take part in projects using drones to film key heritage sites in their locality and create podcasts on topics of their choice that will be delivered in three languages - English, Spanish and Italian. All the students involved with Erasmus KA 229 will also take part in the Raise Your IQ programme which has been worked on by Summerhill and NUI Maynooth over the last two years.
