First Year elections for the Summerhill Student Council the were held recently with four
new members elected from a shortlist of the sixteen tutor class captains. The Elections
sub committee consisting of Stephen Ryan, Diarmuid Brennan, Fraser Woodward,
Elijah Garcia, Noah Gregory, Eamonn Feehily, Conor Meade and Padraig Cawley set
up the GP Area for the E- voting. Class groups were called to the GP via intercom
during second class. Students then familiarised themselves with the candidates and in
an exciting atmosphere each student choose their favoured representative. Proportional
representation was used so each candidate could select up to their fourth choice. The
voting went down without a hitch. Elections were finished and the GP Area was back to
normal by break time. The victors of the first years elections were announced the
following week. Their successful candidates were Nathan Conway, Marc O Brien, Ryan
Ndlovu and Brian Healy. We look forward to working with these new members for the
good of all students in Summerhill College.
