A huge thank you to all who participated in our Christmas Jumper Day (non-uniform day) last Thursday the 13th of December. €1260.85 was raised for Pieta House by donations gathered on the day.

Our College choir and our TY students participating in the Pope John Paul II Award went to Nazareth House on Thursday 13th of December for the residents Christmas party. The JPII students recited a beautiful narration of the nativity story whilst the choir provided renditions of classic Christmas carols known and loved by the residents. A wonderful, festive time was had by all!
Christmas Concert

Well done to all of our fabulous musicians in the College who put on a spectacular show at the Christmas Concert on Monday 10th of December. A wide and impressive range of musical styles and instruments were on display for the night entertaining the crowd with a variety of contemporary songs and classic Christmas carols. Well done to all involved in making the show a success!
First Years Begin Whitewater Training

Well done to first years Luke Brennan, Niall Sweeney, Joseph McCann and Cian McSharry Daly who began their whitewater kayaking training today on a cold but lively Garvogue river. Thanks to the rescue team Conor, Jeffrey, Finnian and Craig.
Gold for Summerhill Boxing Club

Congrats to students of CIC Summerhill Boxing Club who won 3 gold medals in the Mayo Boxing Championships over the weekend. 4 students qualified to compete, one narrowly defeated in the semi-finals and the other 3 went on to win their finals. Connacht Championships are now the next challenge for these students.
Visit from the Franciscan Friars

Yesterday a number of talks were given by Franciscan Friars visiting from Italy to class groups throughout the school. Friars Joseph and Basil spoke about their deep faith and used two insightful videos clips to prompt engaging and interesting discussions about religious faith and practice with students. The Friars closed each talk with a song.
TY Students Attend The Chartered Accountancy Event

Yesterday some of our TY students got the opportunity to take part in a unique and insightful day in IT Sligo where they attended an accounting workshop organised by the Chartered Accounts of Ireland.
Leaving Cert Students Visit IT Sligo

Last week saw twenty of our leaving cert students and Mr Tivnan visit the Sport with Business course at Sligo IT last where they were treated to a taste of life at a third level institution by senior lecturer Kerry Larkin. It was a very informative morning. Thanks to all those involved.
Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Thank you to all students who kindly donated Christmas Shoeboxes to Team Hope this year. A total of 45 boxes were collected and are now being shipped to children in Eastern Europe and Africa, just time for Christmas. A special congratulations to St. Clement (1st year) who donated the largest number of boxes in their year group.
Official Launch of Summerhill College Alumni Association

In order to formally launch the new Summerhill College Alumni Association, we are having an Inaugural Alumni ball which will take place in the Radisson Hotel on Thursday December 27th 2018.
