On the 27th of September Summerhill College was presented with a certificate and flag to recognise the schools status as a HSE Health Promoting School. This award acknowledges the commitment our school has made to the health and wellbeing of the school community. The College has been engaged in the process of becoming a Health Promoting School for the past 3 years. The process of working towards becoming a HPS involved attention and focus on four key elements namely: Environment, Curriculum and Learning, Policy and Planning, and Partnerships. Our HPS team, made up of staff and students, worked to achieve progress in each of these four areas and have been responsible for the implementation of our annual Wellbeing week and Anti-Bullying Week as well as the student review of our Anti-Bullying procedures. Our status as a Health Promoting School is recognised by the Health Services Executive (HSE) and Schools for Health in Europe (SHE).
