Good morning everyone!
The Loreto 200 Virtual Camino challenge is now underway!
Loreto schools from all over Ireland are virtually heading off on their Camino journeys together this morning.
Thanks to everyone for such a fantastic response - we have seventeen Loreto schools participating, with almost three thousand students, staff, parents, and members of the wider Loreto community involved.
Quite fittingly this year, in celebrating 200 years of Loreto education in Ireland, we have just over 200 teams leaving Saint-Jean-Pied-de Port this morning.
A huge thank you to the cooperating teachers in Loreto schools nationwide, who have worked very hard to make this event a success.
I'd like to wish everyone the best of luck along your journey.
Please take lots of photos while out walking and running, so that we can share our virtual journey together, in the spirit of Loreto and follow social media updates on twitter @loretosport1.
Finally, please find a short video below guiding you through signing up, and logging your distance on using the my virtual mission app.

The Loreto Virtual Camino Dé Santiago Challenge
is due to begin on Friday 8th October and finish on 22nd October.
The Loreto Schools Virtual Camino Dé Santiago Challenge is a virtual challenge that challenges teams of people to walk 771.4km from October 8th until November. Participants track their progress using the My Virtual mission app. They can also observe the progress of other teams within the Loreto community.
The challenge is open to students, staff, parents, and all members of the Loreto Community.
It is hoped that this challenge will offer the opportunity for reflection, and hopefully will bring a sense of community to all participating Loreto schools. The emphasis will be on participation, and sharing a journey together.
You can walk or run the distance, 771.4km as part of a team.
How much does it cost?
It will cost €3.50 per person to enter and this will be paid on the School App.
How do I enter / registration?
Registrations will be taken in each class by our TY Sports Committee. Participation is compulsory for all 1st / 2nd and TY Students.
What app will we be using to track our progress?
We will be using an app called My Virtual Mission again this year. Each individual will need to download this app to their phone. See www.myvirtualmission.com/ to find out more. We will send step by step instructions for this part of the registration process, once your entries have been submitted.
There will also be prizes for this event. Details to follow.
