We will notify parents and guardians if there is a change to this date. To all in the Loreto College Foxrock Community I wish to thank all of our staff, students and families for the ongoing support of the school through this very challenging year. We have managed thus far, and school is continuing because of the dedication and commitment of all. I especially want to thank our 6th year students who brightened our last day of term with an online talent show, our student council who motivated us throughout the month of December with great fun, Covid- safe ideas, our ember team who co-ordinated the VDP hampers for the whole school and our TY students who collected valuable items for four very deserving charities. The Christmas spirit was alive in Loreto College Foxrock. We enjoyed a virtual carol service and reached out to those in the community who need support for this very difficult Christmas. All our students and staff are in need of a rest over the Christmas break. The school environment is quite intense and unlike school as we knew it a year ago. Our exam students need to come back in January energised from the holiday. I wish you all a safe and a happy Christmas and we look forward to a better 2021. Our President, Michael D Higgins shared one of his poems as a Christmas greeting. It touches on the unique time we are in: 'Take Care' In the journey to the light, the dark moments should not threaten. Belief requires that you hold steady. Bend, if you will, with the wind. The tree is your teacher, roots at once more firm from experience in the soil made fragile, Your gentle dew will come and a stirring of power to go on towards the space of sharing. But to weaken is to die in the misery of knowing the journey abandoned towards the sharing of all human hopes and cries Is the loss of all we know of the divine reclaimed for our shared humanity. Hold firm. Take Care. Come Home Together.

Our TY Classes are working hard on creating a Christmas Tree for their chosen class charity. Once the tree is completed each student will bring in a gift to place under the tree which will be donated to the charity before Christmas. We have tried to keep each charity as local as we can, we have picked 4 very deserving charities and we are asking the whole school community to get involved and leave a gift under a charities tree. The below is a list of items that are needed. Tree 1 - Saoirse Womens Refugee, Tallaght. The items they need most are new Womens and children's Pyjamas, Underwear, Socks, Dressing gowns, Vouchers for Smyths or One for all. Tree 2 - St Josephs Dementia Centre Shankill. Fluffy Socks, Nightdresses, Male Pyjamas, Nice Candles, Hand Creams, Essential oils, Shaving kits for men. Tree 3 - Fr Peter Mc Verry Warm New Clothing, Toiletries, Toys, Books, Selection Boxes, Tins of Biscuits, blankets. Tree 4 - Bernardos Loughlinstown Vouchers for Teenagers, Lifestyle sports, Boots, Claires, Smyths. Students can bring in these gifts next week and will be directed to the Tree of their choice by their class tutor. We would like to thank you all in advance for your generosity in giving to those who need it most. The TY Students.
