Well done to our Art Teacher Mr. Jonathan Cassidy who appeared on the popular BBC program "Artist of the Year" . This was filmed last summer and their task was to prepare and paint a typical English Countryside Landscape.
Green Schools - Anti Litter Campaign

Our Green schools committee organised an anti litter campaign in the school for the week of January 23rd. As part of the week our students entered an Art competition. The winners were: First Years: 1st. Diarmuid Bautista Stafford, 2nd. Joshua Ocsio, Joint 3rd. Evin Ballantine and Thomas Scanlon. Second Years: 1st Desmond Gillen, 2nd. Saul Harrison, 3rd. Aras Palani. Fifth Years 1st. Simrandeep Dhillon, 2nd Jack McHugh, 3rd. Tymoteusz Gendola.
Congrats also to our TY's who as a year group recycled most during the week.
Well done to all our students and teachers involved with organising this successful campaign. Continue to bin it!

Summerhill Parents Assoc are holding a table quiz on Thursday, Feb 2 in the Embassy Rooms at 8.30. A table of 4 costs €20. All support would be greatly appreciated.

The Connaught College's Junior Gaelic Championship starts off next monday for Summerhill with a preliminary round game vrs St Joseph's Galway at 12.30 in the Center of excellence in Ballyhaunis. Best of luck to the team, to teachers Damian Keenan & Cathal Horan and to Coaches Ross Donevan & Thomas Kelly.

Congratulations to Shane Mooney on receiving Connacht schools Athletics bursary of 250 euro
It is given by Connacht school to encourage and acknowledge the dedication of athletes. Shane captained Irish Athletics to victory in the Celtic games held in Swansea University stadium on the 6th of August.
TY student Owen Eglinton to represent Summerhill College at the Bebras Nation Final

Congratulations to Owen Eglinton from TY2 who has been selected to take part in the Bebras National Final on Saturday 22nd of April. Owen was the highest scoring student from Summerhill College. The Bebras® Computing Challenge introduces computational thinking to students, by allowing them to solve interactive tasks online. It is run in over 30 countries. The aim of Bebras is to get students all over the world excited about computing.
Well done Owen and best of luck in the final.
Senior Rugby Game versus Sligo Grammar School

Summerhill overcame Sligo Grammar School in glorious fashion last Wednesday the 25th of January by 32 points to 19 in front of a huge crowd at The Mall. Summerhill had a blistering first half and led by 22 points to nil at the half-time break despite being reduced in personnel when Kevin Connell was shown a red card.
Caoileann Carty scored an early try, while Ross Hickey went over twice, and Brian Cox added two conversions and a penalty.
But the home side bounced back in the second period, with Cuba Wojtkowicz scoring two tries and Niall Gray also crossing the whitewash, with Gray also kicking two conversions.
Another Cox penalty kept Summerhill ahead, 25-19, and they rallied in the closing stages to claim a fourth try through Brendan Cunningham, with Cox converting again to seal a 13-point win for Summerhill..
Summerhill top Pool 2 as a result, while the Grammar also advance to the semi-finals as pool runners-up.
Colaiste Iognaid currently top Pool 1, with Garbally College in second spot.
Summerhill will face Garbally College at home on the 1st of March for the Connaught Semi-Final.
