Well done to the first year soccer team today as they recorded a 2-1 win against Rice College Westport at Sligo I.T. They now top group C with 9 points. Coming from a goal down just before half time Fintan Campbell levelled from a great cross by Josh McNulty. It was McNulty again half way through the second half with a well taken goal from the left wing. They Summerhill lads were not at their best but solid performances from Canice Mulligan and especially Kailian Barlow meant a home quarter final next. Well done to all involved
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

At least once a year, Christians are reminded of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe” (see John 17.21). Hearts are touched and Christians come together to pray for their unity. Congregations and parishes all over the world exchange preachers or arrange special ecumenical celebrations and prayer services. The event that touches off this special experience is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
Traditionally the week of prayer is celebrated between 18-25 January, between the feasts of St Peter and St Paul.
Here in Summerhill College we will celebrate this important week by welcoming representatives from Sligo Grammar School to our new school Chapel for a prayer service on Friday the 20th. On Wednesday the 25th the two schools will face each other in the Senior Rugby Cup for what promises to be an exciting and entertaining game.
