On Friday 25th of November members of the Student Council took part in a bucket collection in Bank of Ireland. The boys made tea and gave biscuits to customers in the bank throughout the day. They managed to raise €506.32 from the bucket collection and Bank of Ireland have very kindly added €250 to this to give a sum total of €756.32 raised on the day. This money will go towards the Summerhill College sports development fund. We are extremely grateful to Bank of Ireland for facilitating the bucket collection and their generous donation.
On Thursday 15th of December Cathy and Tara from Bank of Ireland came to the school to present the cheque, along with our Student Council Chairperson Davoren Fallon, to the Principal Mr Paul Keogh. Davoren thanked the ladies from Bank of Ireland and all the staff for their kind contribution and facilitating the collection by presenting them with a thank you card and a box of chocolates. Mr Keogh thanked both the Student Council and Bank of Ireland for their efforts in raising these vital funds for the school.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated on
December 8. Many people believe that the feast celebrates Jesus’ conception, but in fact
it celebrates Mary’s Immaculate Conception; the fact that Mary was, from the very first
moment of her existence (her conception), without sin, and chosen to be the Mother of
Jesus.
As today's feast is a holy day of obligation, all Catholics should participate in Mass.
As it is the feast day of the College the school will be closed on this day.
