On Wednesday 8th of February our Leaving Certificate Class of 2017 took part in their final retreat day as students of Summerhill College. As part of their retreat day students took part in a talk from psychologist and former Summerhill teacher Shane Martin on coping with stress and building resilience as students approach their Leaving Certificate mock and final examinations. He offered students some excellent words of advice and practical tips for what they can do in the coming weeks and months to maximise their potential. Students also took part in a talk from Deacon David Muldowney, who gave an insight into his own very interesting personal faith journey and life story. Students took part in meditation with Ms Pauline Duffy in our College Chapel providing a rich opportunity to de-stress and relax. Finally students participated in a prayer service and placed their hopes and concerns before God in a spirit of community. Each student received a prayer card with a prayer and some inspiring quotes as a memento of their day. Students also thoroughly enjoyed their break times, with lunch, tea and biscuits all being provided by the school, and the opportunity to chat and relax with their peers. Special thank you goes to Shane Martin, Deacon David Muldowney and Pauline Duffy for their contributions to the day. We wish all of our examination students the very best of luck in their mock examinations.
