Summerhill vs Ballinrobe U17 9/11/17 - Match report by Conor McGowan TY Summerhill College u17s emerged victorious in their opening competitive bout against Ballinrobe CS in a thrilling 3-2 encounter. An early lead came from a Niall McDermott header, which went little over 2 minutes unanswered as the Mayo side equalised thanks to a distanced free kick. The two sides were level going to the dressing rooms for half time, but 10 –man Ballinrobe were visibly shaken and were soon punished by a clinical finish from Tyler Stallard. Instrumental play from the Summerhill midfield were almost rewarded after a Daniel Gray Harrigan goal following a Kailum Burns rebound off the woodwork was deemed offside. This domination was met with determination from the opposition and found the back of the net 15 minutes from the final whistle, drawing the sides level. The tiebreaker coming just over 5 minutes from the end thanks to well-pieced linkup play from the Summerhill side and a close range finish from Jason. Well done to all involved with the team. Final Score: Summerhill 3-2 Ballinrobe

With over 3,500 cardiac arrests occurring in 2016 education is key to ensuring increased survival rates. CIC TY students undertook a half day hands on training to help them to recognise and manage cardiac arrest, and how to potentially save a life. Many thanks to The Order of Malta Sligo branch for delivering this training and through raising awareness of CPR are saving many lives.
