We would ask that children exit the school grounds as quickly as possible and not to congregate outside the school gates.
Parents are requested not to congregate outside the entrance to the school when either bringing their children to school or collecting their children from school. If they need to communicate with school staff, this should be done via email or telephone. Parental admission to the school building will be either by pre-arranged appointment or contact from the school to collect their child. Appointments can be made by contacting the school office at 045-431179.
For this school year the school uniform must be worn on specific days during the week and the school tracksuit can only be worn on PE days. Your child’s class teacher will communicate these days to you when school returns.
Any staff or pupils of St. Conleth and Mary’s that have symptoms of COVID-19 must not attend school. Instead, they should phone their doctor to arrange a Covid-19 test and follow HSE guidance on self-isolation.
Any staff or pupils of St. Conleth and Mary’s should not return to or attend school in the event of the following:
• if they are identified by the HSE as a close contact of a confirmed case of COVID-19
• if they live with someone who has symptoms of the virus
• If they have travelled outside of Ireland; in such instances staff are advised to consult and follow latest Government advice in relation to foreign travel.
Furthermore, staff and pupils of St. Conleth and Mary’s are requested to cooperate with any public health officials and the school for contact tracing purposes and follow any public health advice in the event of a case or outbreak in the school.
Staff and pupils that develop symptoms at school must bring this to the attention of the Principal promptly.
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 it is important to know and recognise the symptoms. Full guidance on COVID-19 symptoms(which includes the DELTA variant) is available from the HSE but they include:
• a fever (high temperature - 38 degrees Celsius or above).
a new cough - this can be any kind of cough, not just dry.
• shortness of breath or breathing difficulties.
• loss or change in your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
• Fatigue
• Aches and Pains
Other uncommon symptoms of coronavirus include:
• sore throat
• headaches
• runny or stuffy noses
• feeling sick or vomiting
• diarrhoea
Primary school children are not required to wear face coverings but can do so if they wish.
Any parents/guardians coming onto the school grounds must wear a face covering.
All our classrooms have been altered to ensure a full return to school in line with the DES roadmap / guidelines for the reopening schools.
Pupils will be seated in pods of 4 to 8 children. Pupils will remain in these pods. While pupils are not
1 metre apart within their pods they are 1 metre away from the next pod, this is in line with published Department of Education and Skills classroom layouts for the reopening of schools in the context of Covid-19.
Excess furniture has been removed from classrooms to ensure a full return to school is possible.
Pupils are asked to have their own pens, pencils, rulers, colours etc as sharing of these with other pupils will not be possible this year.
Our COVID 19 response plan remains largely unchanged as we continue to operate to the Dept of Education and Skills guidelines. The updated response plan will be finalised by the Board of Management in the coming days and will be made available.
We thank you for your cooperation and continued support as we seek to reopen for the school year 2021/22..

Summer Programme continued today. We went on shape hunts and played lots of maths games. We also spent some time using Lego We Do, building machines and learning coding. The best part was when we used the code we'd written on the iPad to make the machine come to life!

We had a fantastic start to our summer programme today. In all we have 5 classes operating for the next 2 weeks. We worked on oral language skills, reading and number concepts today. We also found time to enjoy the brilliant new yard games purchased for us by Newbridge School Completion Project and with the weather being so fantastic we finished up with some ice cream. We're looking forward to a great day 2!
