Trick or Teat for Temple Street in memory of Lucy

In September our school suffered a huge loss with the sad and untimely passing of Lucy O'Reilly Fleming. One of Lucy's favourite times of the year was Halloween and in her memory this Friday we are encouraging all the children to come to school dressed in their Halloween costumes. We would also ask children to bring some money to make a donation to Temple Street, the hospital where Lucy received not only her treatment but excellent care.
During the year we aim to hold a few events to raise money for Temple Street so that in May/June 2022 we can make a sizable donation to them. All money donated will be counted on Friday and lodged to our school charities bank account. The total raised will be shared with the school community of Friday.
We hope that everyone can take part in our Trick or Treat for Temple Street in memory of Lucy.

Today Ms. Hilliard's class in room 10 started working with Helen Flanagan as part of our artist residency projects. The children all had to bring in something from their community that was important to them. They then started the process of turning that object into a stamp using tracing paper and lino. 4th class in Rooms 7&8 will be working with Helen later in the week.

Good evening, thank you to everyone for being so understanding and collecting their children early today. A water main was burst on Chapel Lane and with our current set up in prefabs we have no water tanks. This means we are completely reliant on the mains connection to run taps, toilets etc.
Thankfully Kildare County Council were able to repair the leak this evening and school will be open tomorrow.

Third class participated in a musical event all about the Cello. The event was run through the Riverbank Theatre with Greg Sinclair, an award winning performance artist, teaching the children all about the cello and guiding the children in creating a composition of their own. Greg is now busily performing and recording the children's piece and will send us the file to enjoy for ourselves! Well done to all the children involved from room 5 and 6!

COVID 19 Positive CaseS in St Conleth & Mary's

Dear parents/guardians,
In the last week we have been made aware of a number of positive covid cases in children in our school. I would like to thank all the parents/guardians who contacted us to make us aware of these cases. Thankfully all the children involved are doing well and recovering quickly.
As a school we report these cases to public health who then advise us if any further steps are necessary. We have not had any contact from public health as of yet despite our many phone calls and emails.
If your child is feeling unwell, has been identified as a close contact or a member of their household is awaiting a test or a test result I would ask that you please do not send them to school. Please see the image below to see a list of symptoms to check for before sending your child to school. If your child displays any of these symptoms, do not send them to school and contact your GP.
Kind regards
Bryan Lynch

Well done to 4th Class who took part in a writing workshop via Zoom with Fighting Words! The children completed all the steps of the writing process to create, edit and publish their own class story complete with illustrations. The story is available on fightingswords.ie/stories/battle-kfc. All the characters, plot and settings were decided and voted on by the class. They then used what they learned to write their own stories. Here are some samples of their work!
