Fighting Words, along with DLR Libraries, has invited the students of LCF to take part in a two session workshop to write a YA short story to feature in an online anthology publication on their website. We would be grateful if parents/guardians of students who are interested in creative writing would encourage their student to apply. The first workshop is a two hour session to write the first half and gather some ideas on how to end the story, and the second workshop is one hour to finish the short story. Each session will be held in the library and led by a member of the Fighting Words Team. There are 30 places available for this workshop. Students from 1st to 6th Yr who are interested in creative writing are asked to apply via the Form which will be posted on their English Class Team and Tutor/Year Head Team. The form only needs to be completed once and should be completed by Wednesday 2nd March. If more than 30 students apply, names will be drawn from a hat. Students should make sure that they are available on the following dates before applying: Friday, 4th March from 10am to 12pm - first two hour workshop Friday 11th March from 10am to 11pm - second one hour workshop

Dear Parents and Guardians, Tik Tok dances may have helped many negotiate the challenges of our Lockdowns, however the reality remains that many of us are mystified by the appeal of Tik Tok or may not appreciate how it is influencing and impacting the lives of our teenagers and young people. DCU Anti-Bullying Centre is offering parents an opportunity to attend a free parents’ webinar called ‘Anti-Bullying and Online Safety – A Tik Tok Guide for Parents’ tonight, Tuesday 15 February at 7.00pm. Please find below a link through which you can register for this webinar: dcu-ie.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_G9q3E9OMSKa1_skNnZ3D2Q Kind regards, Edel Browne
