Safer Internet Day - 8 February 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Today, Tuesday 8th February is Safer Internet Day. This began as an EU wide initiative that is now celebrated internationally in over 200 countries.
Our students will continue to address cyber safety issues in school, however as parents and guardians the challenge of helping our daughters manage their social media safety, privacy and behaviour can seem overwhelming. They do seem to be several steps ahead digitally!
Unfortunately, secondary school students do not always have the emotional maturity to handle the impact of the online world on themselves or to fully recognise the impact of their own online behaviour on others.
The webwise.ie website offers loads of current information / video clips etc.to help parents / guardians support their child in this ever-changing online world, including suggestions on how to communicate with teenagers on different aspects of social media that you may feel are a specific concern. Please find here Parents - (webwise.ie) a direct link to the parents’ section which you may find helpful.
Happy Safer Internet Day 2022!
Kind regards,
Edel Brown

Hi 6th year parents/guardians
We just wanted to keep you up to date with plans for the year, and are delighted to say we have booked the date and venue for the Debs of the class of 2022. This has been very successfully held in the same venue for a number of years now, most recently with the class of both 2020 and 2021 in November just gone!
Our planned date is:
Saturday 24th September 2022 at Leopardstown Pavilion.
Please do put the date in your daughter’s diary now, as we are sure they will all be excited to attend!
We also hope to have a graduation dinner on the day of their graduation ceremony in the school. This date has just recently been changed to Tuesday 24th May at 3pm-5.30pm. The dinner would be afterwards in a hotel function room, with a set menu, at around 7pm. The girls usually go out in town as a group afterwards, so would likely leave at around 10pm. Parents/guardians would be free to stay on!
The event was held previously in 2019, and by all accounts was a huge success, really giving the girls a memorable end to their school days.
We would like to assess interest in this graduation dinner, so if you could email caoimheoneill73@gmail.com with your daughter’s name to let us know if you would like to attend. We can then keep in touch about price and all other details once we have numbers. Graduation is usually for just the student and their parent(s)/guardians, so the dinner would be the same. If you have a special circumstance that would require more than 2/3 people to attend just let us know, again for numbers.
We hope the preparations for mocks are going well and the stress levels are not too high!
Talk soon,
Caoimhe and Yvonne
