Transition Year
115 TY students enjoyed a day in Waterford city. We went to Ger Carey with his hilarious stand-up comedy show for transition year students in the Theatre Royal. By secretly observing his subjects in their natural habitat, such as leaning on lampposts, in chippers, outside chippers, in shopping centres and sitting on any kind of steps, Ger has uncovered the weird and frightening world of the teenager! The aim of the show is to get teenagers to laugh at themselves and appreciate the differences of others. When the students were asked to scale the show out of 10 most of them gave it an eight or upwards they really enjoyed it. Our TYs then had the opportunity to enjoy lunch with their friends and of course a visit to Penney's! Many thanks to Ms Pender, Ms Coffey, Mr Cosgrave, Mary O Regan SNA and Ms MaGann for travelling with the students.

A day of mixed fortunes for both our 2nd year hockey teams as our first team pipped a strong @MidletonCollege by 2 goals to 1 in what was an dramatic end to end match full of skill. Rachel Flynn and Ava Nugent finishing off 2 well worked goals. Unfortunately our second team couldn’t match the result, although not for lack of skill and determination, @reginamundicork proving too strong on the day.

The OECD PISA (Programme for international student assessment) assesses the skills and knowledge of 15 year old students in reading literacy, mathematics and science. It is the largest international study of education. After the test, a questionnaire will be issued to each student to determine their background, well-being and use of ICT.
St. Augustine’s College has been selected as a PISA school. Ms Moore is co-ordinating it and is the school link person for PISA. 46 students have been selected at random. Students range from 3rd, TY and 5th year.
Students selected were issued a brown envelope today by Ms Moore. Inside each envelope, there is a parent/guardian survey that must be filled out by the parent/guardian by this Wednesday at the latest.
Students selected: The Brown envelope with parent/guardian survey must be completed and submitted to Ms Moore Guidance Counsellor by Wednesday.
Testing will take place on laptops provided by the Team on November 7th. (Monday after midterm break). Testing will take place from 9-1.15. Breaks and movement breaks will be provided. Students will be divided into 2 groups of 23.
Regards
Elaine Moore

Well done to Sarah Moynihan and Maisie Breen who won the East Munster Senior Girls Schools Golf at Charleville Golf Club last week. They will now compete in National Finals in Dublin next April. Both girls are members of Dungarvan Golf Golf and their game has been steadily improving over the last few years. Pictured here with a delighted Principal Mr O'Sullivan.
