Action Plan on Bullying

The Department of Education is currently reviewing the Action Plan on Bullying and the Anti-bullying Procedures for Primary and Post-primary Schools. As part of this work the Department is seeking your views about what should be done to prevent and tackle bullying in our schools. The Department is inviting you to make written submissions and to complete a short questionnaire as part of the public consultation process. The consultation can be accessed on www.gov.ie/schools-anti-bullying-plan-review/ . The closing date for receipt of submissions is Tuesday 21 June 2022.
TY Graduation - Wednesday 25th May

Each student celebrated their graduation from Transition Year, with an overall award of either Pass, Merit or Distinction. Students also received awards on the day for Participation in Work Experience, IT, Spirit of TY, Application & Co-operation, Courtesy and Manners, Entrepreneurship and Academic Achievement. Sixteen students also received their Cert. and Medal, for completing the Bronze Gaisce (President's) Award. An overall 'Student of the Year' award, was also presented. Well done to all students on a very successful year.
TY Careers Events

TY Students recently attended career coffee mornings, with Kennedy Wilson (Global Real Estate Company) and PWC, where they took part in a reverse interview workshop experience. They also attended a careers event in Croke park, where they engaged with staff from all sections there - (communications, event management, facilities, finance, HR , museum and pitch maintenance). Students found all trips very informative and enjoyed the days out. A big thank you to Amy Brodigan from NEIC/NCI for organising.

Our 6th years will graduate tomorrow night. The ceremony will take place at 6.45pm sharp in the sports hall! Please arrive early to be seated and we look forward to celebrating this occasion with you.
JCSP Graduation

What a proud day for our 3rd years and their teachers as classes Clodagh, Niamh, Una and Orla graduated from JCSP and the junior cycle. We had a lovely ceremony where students received their JCSP profiles from the Department of Education listing all their achievements since they started in Mount Carmel. Well done to all of you! The Junior Certificate School Programme (JCSP) is a national programme offered in over 200 schools throughout the country. The programme is designed to support students at junior cycle. In Mount Carmel we are one of 30 schools lucky enough to have a JCSP school library and full time librarian. @jcsplibraries @jcspie
Helpline for Ukrainian Families

National Parents Council Primary (NPC) has just launched a new Helpline for Ukrainian parents who have recently arrived in Ireland. The Helpline will help parents with any questions they might have relating to their children’s education in Ireland, and they have a Helpline Officer who speaks Ukrainian and Russian.
School of Irish Archaeology Workshops

The School of Irish Archaeology delivered a fantastic workshop to all our third year students this week. What a fantastic way to revise before the junior cert. The students enjoyed an interactive workshop learning about artefacts and the work of archaeologists. We had a brilliant day thank you @SIAeducation

Our TY students had an amazing @ShoutOut_IE workshop today. ShoutOut is a registered charity committed to improving life for LGBTQ+ people by sharing personal stories and educating school students, parents & guardians, teachers, youth workers and workplaces on LGBTQ+ issues.
