The Importance of Attendance

Dear Parents/Guardians,
My name is Ms. Byrne and I will be looking after Attendance and Punctuality this year. Our aim at Mount Carmel Secondary School is to maximise and maintain our student’s attendance throughout their years here. We want to work with you and your child to achieve maximum attendance throughout the year.
As parents/guardians we encourage you to ensure that your child attends school and is absent from school only when it is entirely necessary. I have attached a PDF to show you the effects that just a few missed days can have on your child’s learning. When a student misses just 1 day, they are missing 9 lessons, 2 days, 18 lessons etc, this can result in major challenges in their learning. I encourage you to be mindful of your child’s attendance this year and work with us to maximise attendance for 2022-2023.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or issues that may arise. Thank you.

After a hugely successful Open Night, it was wonderful to enjoy the sports in the sunshine. Well done all!
