Dear parents and guardians,

Tomorrow Mount Carmel Secondary School will embark on our sponsored walk raising vital funds for Pieta House. This is also our whole school fundraiser for the Amber Flag- promoting positive mental health in schools.

All students should wear their school tracksuit, proper runners and make sure to bring umbrellas and coats with hoods in case of rain!

Classes will finish at 1pm tomorrow.

I want to thank our Wellbeing & Mental Health coordinator Ms Murtagh and her Well-being Warriors who will lead the first group on their walk at 11am, for organising such a fantastic event.

Happy Easter to the entire Mount Carmel School Community!

Kind regards
Deirdre Fitzgerald

A Career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) is now a growing trend worldwide. With that in mind, some of our TY students recently availed of the opportunity to try out the science laboratories at TU Dublin.  Pictured enjoying a TY Biology challenge there are Salma, Eiva, Roxanna & Julia, who have all picked a Science subject (Chemistry or Biology or both) as an option subject, in the  Leaving Cert.

TY students take part in Barclays 'Ready to Work' program

TY students visited Barclays offices last week, taking part in mock interviews, as part of the company's 'Ready to Work' program. Interviewers were very impressed by the high standard of student responses, with a lot of students very focused and knowledgeable about the career path, they had in mind for themselves. Interviewers Shauna, Padraig and Anne also gave students plenty of valuable career advice, based on their own personal experiences.  A big thank you to Emma and Aoibheann from Junior Achievement Ireland (JAI) for organising the event and also to the Barclays staff who, over the last few weeks, gave so freely of their time to our students, in preparation for the interview stage.

TY Students were back in TU Dublin last week, this time talking part in a Baking Challenge. Students Erika, Eiva, Maureen & Angel, got to sample the excellent cookery training facilities at the University, learning a few new kitchen skills and having fun in the process. A big thank you to Ian Roller and all the staff from TU Dublin, who were involved in making this event possible.
