Red Card to Racism

Lunchtime was certainly busy for our Red Card to Racism Day. Students enjoyed red snacks while watching New Boy based on Roddy Doyle’s short story of an African boy Joseph, and his first day at school in Ireland.
Students can also enter into our Poster Competition which closes Monday 22nd at 3.30pm. The theme is : Racism No thanks.
Finally students were educated through PowerPoint presentations and peer to peer teaching on topics such as racial justice, inclusivity and awareness.
Thank you to all the staff and students for wearing red!

Tomorrow we are celebrating our Red Card to Racism Day. Students will wear their uniform and are invited to wear red accessories such as nail polish, jewellery, hair accessories etc.
Tomorrow we will educate our school community on how to more inclusive and to recognise racism and be the change to eradicate it.

A big thanks to Ian, Anne and all of TUDublin Engagement Outreach team, who organised a Sports day for our TY students, at their campus this week. Students played Jugger, Hockey, Frisbee, Picketball and Soccer. The rainy day did not dampen their spirits - great fun had by all involved.

Huge congratulations to Ms Murtagh and the Wellbeing Warriors for leading the Mount Carmel school community in their quest to be awarded our first Amber Flag.
This flag is recognition from Pieta House for our healthy and inclusive environment, supporting mental health and wellbeing. We are are so proud.

Huge thank you to Rachel Hyland and all the mentors in @Cornmarket.ie for their wrap up brunch in Wuff Cafe yesterday. This was the celebration of a two year mentorship run by @BITCIreland with Mount Carmel Students and facilitated by Eimear Cassidy here in the school. The students really enjoyed the experience and thank you for @Cornmarket.ie for being our partner in this endeavour.

Last week we celebrated our 3rd year JCSP students with their Final Profiling Ceremony. Students were presented with their Profiles highlighting all of their achievements over the past 3 years. Congratulations to all.
Last soccer match of the season with a 7:2 win against Luttrelstown Community College

Our first year soccer team finished their season with an impressive 7:2 win against Luttrelstown Community College. After a heavy loss against Castleknock Community College this was a great boost ahead of their next season in U16 age group. Big thank you to Mr.Gunning for helping out with the team and all the teachers in Mount Carmel for their support!
