A reminder to all Home Economic Third Year Students. Third year mock cookery exams will take place Tuesday for Ms Geoghegan's class and on Thursday for Ms Cassidy's class. Please be prepared to make all dishes and have necessary ingredients and lunchboxes to take food and drink home in. The very best of luck!

MC Parents Walk & Talk

Our Parents walk & talk brought us through Trinity College today. We even stopped in to admire the Museum Building and ended up with tea and chats in the National Gallery Cafe. Meeting every Wednesday at 9am in school reception- all welcome! Katie HSCL 086 020 0299
TY/ TU Dublin Visual Communications Lecture and Project Design Workshop

This week our TY students were back in TU Dublin again, this time attending a Visual Communications Lecture and taking part in a Project Design Workshop. For the Project Design Workshop, following a short talk on the work of a product designer and the process used to create new inventions, students had to make a personal phone holder. Phones were measured, models were made from cardboard and designs were drawn on computers before the final product was laser cut. Students enjoyed the practical workshop and got to keep what they made.
TY/ TU Dublin Chemistry Workshop

Promoting the fun side of Chemistry, was the goal behind a recent TU Dublin Workshop, our TY students participated in. Under the supervision of TU Dublin lecturers and college students, they conducted a number of experiments in the lab. Using the abundance of evidence left at the scene of the crime, the objective was to determine the primary suspect in a murder mystery, An interesting and fun-filled morning had by all involved.

There will be a subject options meeting for all 3rd year and Transition year students and parents on Monday 23rd at 5:30pm in the school hall. We will discuss all the programme options open to your daughter for September 2023. This is a very important decision in your daughter's academic career and it is imperative that you attend.
TY/TUDublin Team Building Workshop

Good teamwork is important for all aspects of everyday life with our own TY students themselves, taking part in a team building exercise, in TUDublin this week. Students were divided into mixed teams and with limited materials, had to work together to build the tallest spaghetti tower they could. Emphasis was placed on the role of teams in large tech companies, listening to alternative points of view, design process and learning from mistakes. Thanks to the Ian Roller from TUDublin for organising the event and to the employees of Tech company Workday, for running it.
TAP Leadership Programme Launch

As part of Trinity Access, Bridge to College Programme, some Transition Year students visited the college this week. They found out details about the Leadership Project they will be taking part in and met the mentors, who will be guiding them through the various stages of it. A great opportunity for the students involved, to sample what college assignments/projects are all about.
TY/TUD Craft Design Challenge

This week TY Students took part in a TUD Craft Design Challenge and made wall plaques. In the process, they learned how to use a band saw, drill and wood guillotines. After making the wall plaques, they decorated them, using a pyrography pen. Good fun was had by the students involved.

All children aged 2-17 can get the free flu vaccine The nasal flu vaccine is still available in Ireland for children aged 2-17. It is given as a spray up the nose, there is no need for an injection. It is a safe, easy and pain free way to help protect children against flu this winter. The flu vaccine will also help reduce the spread of flu to others such as siblings, parents, teachers at high risk of flu complications (e.g. pregnant or long-term health conditions) and grandparents.
