4th Year
This week TY students visited BNY Mellon, where the staff there, mentored the students about their own career paths and give them useful tips on navigating their own career journeys. While the careers of some of the staff followed along a STEAM route (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), others didn't, with students being encouraged to be open to change, learn from failure, pick something you like and keep learning new skills. A big thank you to all the staff of BNY Mellon, for giving so freely of their time on the day and to Elaine O' Brien Lynch and Emma Barrett from Junior Achievement Ireland (JAI), for organising the visit.

TY students, with the help of Localise, recently organised a School Fashion Show. The students themselves modelled, as well as some of their teachers. Our guest models on the day were Ellen and Carmel from 'Friends of the Elderly' and they 'stole the show'. The aims of the fashion show, were to highlight fast fashion, climate justice, positive aging and encourage upcycling/ recycling of clothes. All clothes used, were from the 'Friends of the Elderly' charity shop 'Ritzy Rags'. A big thank you to Harry Keogh from Localise and their teacher Mr Daly, for organising the event. A big thank you also, to their Home Economics teacher Ms Cassidy, for the help with the clothes upcycling.

We were delighted to present our past 3rd year students with their Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement Certificates this afternoon. These certificates describe their CBA results and list all the other areas of learning covered in the past three years.
We are especially proud of this group- they have been on quite a journey since 1st year having to contend with Covid, online schooling & social distancing among other things. This is the first time we’ve been able to celebrate their achievements properly. Well done to you all.
Special thanks to Ms Costello for all her hard work in preparation & organising the wonderful event.

Dear parents and guardians,
Tomorrow Mount Carmel Secondary School will embark on our sponsored walk raising vital funds for Pieta House. This is also our whole school fundraiser for the Amber Flag- promoting positive mental health in schools.
All students should wear their school tracksuit, proper runners and make sure to bring umbrellas and coats with hoods in case of rain!
Classes will finish at 1pm tomorrow.
I want to thank our Wellbeing & Mental Health coordinator Ms Murtagh and her Well-being Warriors who will lead the first group on their walk at 11am, for organising such a fantastic event.
Happy Easter to the entire Mount Carmel School Community!
Kind regards
Deirdre Fitzgerald
