Another busy week at OLS!
6th Year Higher Level Irish Students went to see a production of An Triail on Wednesday.
Yesterday the TYs completed their First Development Day. TY1 and TY2 were in school taking part in a First Aid course and a Self Defense Course while TY3 and TY4 were in Town on retreat and visiting Epic Museum, Little Museum of Dublin and Dublin Castle. It was a wonderful experience and the TYs enjoyed the learning experience and time with their class.
120 TY students showed their scientific knowledge in the sixth SciFest@OLS on Wednesday. We would like to congratulate everyone that entered who should be very proud of themselves for doing such an excellent job at impressing all the judges. They also hosted 6th class visitors from St PIus X Girls' National School. TY lab leaders showed the younger students some experiments.
Today TY3 and TY4 visited St PIus X Girls' National School. Over the past few weeks in their creative writing classes, they created some wonderful story books aimed at Senior Infants and 1st Class. The students in Pius enjoyed spending time reading the wonderful creative books our young authors wrote. The books looked fabulous and they dealt with some important themes like inclusion and friendship. Well done to all involved!
Best of luck to TYs who start their work experience on Monday and we wish all other students the best of luck in their house exams!
Please see lots of photos and next week's menu attached.
A reminder about the Art exhibition tomorrow night!
We would love to see all of last year's Leaving Cert and Junior Cert Art students, as well as our JC 2024 students tomorrow night to celebrate the amazing work. We invite you and your families to this celebration of the Visual Art in OLS.
Please join us in the GPA tomorrow, Thursday 21st November at 7pm. Exhibition night finishes at 8pm
We hope to see you there
Ms. Maguire & Mr. Kenny
Well done to our Junior Camogie team who have reached the Junior A Dublin Championship Final for the second year in a row. The girls put on a fantastic display in the heavy rain on Tuesday to win 3-5 to 2-4 against a strong Coláiste Íosagáin team.
A belated well done to our Senior Camogie team for their emphatic win in the Dublin A Championship Semi Final last Thursday. The girls beat Loreto Beaufort in a great win which sees them advance to the A Final.
Highlights from our TY project management bake sale, where the students raised funds to support the redevelopment of the active school walkway.
The TY Active School Flag class organised a wonderful Run in the Dark in aid of Collaborative Cares. They were donned in lots of bright vibrant colours on their 5k route around the community! Well done to all who participated and thanks to the staff who volunteered their time.
Science Week was a flurry of activity involving lots of activities like quizzes, body building and cell construction! Well done to Kate O’Sullivan, Jane Cunnion, Kathryn King, Maria Hennelly, Saoirse Larkin and Matilda Murray who represented OLS at the ISTA Senior Science Quiz in Trinity last night.
The TYs had a wonderful few days in Carlingford this week and embraced the outdoors and the adventure challenges with great gusto - well done to them all!
Today we celebrate our founding order, the Religious of Christian Education. Thank you to the B5s for creating a wonderful ceremony to celebrate the Sisters and our origins.
A reminder to 5th and 6th Years that exams start next Friday! They are the following week for 1st-3rd Years. TY exams are in December.
