Shrek: The Musical, Jr
TY students have been busy preparing for Shrek: The Musical, Jr. The musical runs Tuesday, 16th April to Thursday, 18th April with the show beginning at 7 p.m.
Peter McVerry Talk
Thank you to Peter McVerry for chatting with our students on Wednesday. Peter discussed his experiences working with people who are homeless. The girls learned about the importance of treating homeless people like valued members of society -- saying hello, smiling, stopping for a chat. It was an incredibly informative discussion! Study Focus Week
This week was study focus week at OLS. Students made summer exam study plans and used the academic progress and reflection booklet to set goals and highlight areas of improvement for each subject.

TY student Éabha Booth recently represented Ireland U16s in a recent Four Nations tournament (against England, Scotland and Wales) where Ireland finished runners-up. Éabha also finished the tournament as the second-highest points scorer for Ireland! Well done Éabha! A super achievement!
Congratulations to current second-year student Alisha Weir, who has made Forbes' 30 Under 30 Europe list! According to Forbes, she is the "second-youngest lister in Forbes Under 30 Europe Entertainment history (after Millie Bobby Brown in 2018)." Alisha is well known for her shinning performance as Matilda Wormwood in the 2022 production of "Matilda: The Musical." Her most latest film, Abigal (a horror film), opens this month. On Tuesday, the TYs welcomed Jack Kavanagh, who gave an inspiring talk about resilience in the midst of adversity. Jack spoke to TY students about how to overcome life's anxieties, and how to build a healthier relationship with others and with ourselves. Double All Ireland Senior silver for OLS
Congratulations again to the senior swim team (Eva Walshe, Zoe Browne, Sylvie Marley and Laura Potts) who competed Saturday against schools from all four provinces at the All Ireland Schools Relay Championships. The girls competed in the senior category (U19) and won silver in both the 200 freestyle and the 200 medley relays. We are so proud of you!

Charity Update
Congratulations to the Charity Committee on running a successful Daffodil Day in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. They raised €1,211.65. Another well done to the Active Schools Flag on a very successful Colour run in aid of Special Olympics Ireland. They raised €2,09.45. Thank you to everyone who contributed to both important charities.
DJ Workshop
Ballyroan Library is running a 4 week DJ workshop for teens (ages 14-17 only) beginning in Ballyroan Library on 25 April. The workshops will be delivered by the musician educators of NOISE music collective.

Current OLS student Joy Ralph and the Ireland Women’s National Under 19s football team qualified for the UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship in Lithuania in July 2024. Joy scored the winning goal against Austria to secure the qualification! We couldn't be more proud!
