Le Chéile Day
OLS celebrated Le Chéile Day today. Students wrote the name of someone they're grateful for on a petal-shaped piece of paper. The "petals" were arranged on a wall in the GPA to make a gorgeous mural (see photo gallery). Thank you Mr. O'Rourke and the Le Chéile students for your artistic skills!
Waste Free Wednesday
OLS held its first No Waste Wednesday today. Students and staff were urged to refrain from using plastic and single waste wrappings. Ms. Filaih's TY class designed their own newspapers from old class projects (see photo gallery).
World Book Day
Tomorrow (March 7) is World Book Day in Ireland and the UK. The library is running a Design Your Own Bookmark Competition. Students can stop by the library during Thursday's lunch period to work on their designs. The winner will receive a small prize. Additionally, their bookmark will be laminated and copies of it will be available to take at the library desk.
Our Lady’s School Parents' Council invites you to a Quiz Night on the evening of March 21st.
The Colour Run will take place Thursday the 14th of March. The ASF class has organised it for everyone in the school. Wear your tracksuit and underneath wear your leggings and a white t-shirt that you don't mind getting dirty.
Wear sunglasses or goggles to protect your eyes from paint getting in them.
Our charity partner is the Special Olympics. All students are asked to bring in €5 for this wonderful charity during pastoral care on Tuesday the 12th of March.
TY Update & What’s On Next Week
The Great TY Bake-Off
On Wednesday after school, a number of TY students participated in The Great TY Bake-Off! There was a great aroma coming from the kitchen and we hope all involved had a great time!
Fighting Words
On Monday, Mr. Moloney’s English class left school just before lunch to go to ‘Fighting Words’ - a workshop where they took part in roleplays and explored their imaginations through creative writing.
Junior A Hockey
On Wednesday, our Junior A hockey team travelled to Naas to play against St. Marys. They came away victorious with a scoreline of 2-0 and are now in the final which will take place next Tuesday! Well done to everyone who was involved!
TY Development Day
Today, TY’s had their fourth TY Development Day.
TY 1 took part in a Self Defence Course in St Joseph’s Hall, where they learned how to defend themselves without having to do any complicated manoeuvres. A great opportunity for the girls!
TY 2 met outside Dublin Castle and then went to The Little Museum of Dublin where they learned about the history of Dublin City. Due to the snow they had to cut the day short.
TY 3 headed to Dublin Zoo but unfortunately they had to cut the day short due to the snow
TY 4 completed their Certified First Aid Course. This is a very valuable course as it improves students’ self-esteem, teamwork and communication skills, and prepares them for unpredictable situations and responding to others’ injuries with methods such as CPR. They were treated to an engaging, hands-on set of workshops from an experienced first aid instructor in Lourdes Hall.
TY 5 worked on their independence skills as they made their way into town to meet their spiritual guide for ‘A Pilgrim Path’ retreat held in Dublin City Centre. Participants did a ‘pilgrimage’ visiting the main churches on both sides of the Liffey, learning about the historical, political, social and spiritual significance of the parish church communities. The retreat was cut short due to the snow.
