UCD Computer Science Project

A small group of TY students recently took part in UCD’s Computer Science Project – CS Sparks. It ran for 4 weeks and culminated in an afternoon exhibition and presentation of certificates. Well done to J Allen, M Byrne, S Elviri, I Fagan and A Kane. Many thanks to Ms Spain who represented the school at the graduation ceremony.

TY students collected for Temple Street Children’s Hospital in October as part of the annual Trick or Treat appeal. We are very proud of the girls – they raised €3,107.56.

For the last number of weeks TY’s have been visiting Dublin Castle and bouldering at “The Wall” in Sadyford. The tour of Dublin Castle included the State Apartments, the medieval undercroft and the Chapel Royal. When students went bouldering it was an opportunity to challenge themselves to climb and overcome any fears they may have had.

Well done to the Junior Irish debating team who took part in Gael Linn’s ‘Comórtas Díospóireachta an Phiarsaigh’. The Junior Team (J Sheehy, A McGowan & K Abdulhaman - 2nd Year) spoke against the motion ‘ Laethanta scoile na laethanta is fearr dár saol!

We are immensely proud of our past pupil, Louise Bourke, who achieved her Gold Gaisce award on Wednesday 4th December. The award was presented to her by President Michael D Higgins, in Dublin Castle.

Four TY students Sadbh, Sabina, Gile and Isabella attended the Dominican Youth Forum in St. Dominic’s College Cabra to learn about Youth Homelessness. They got to hear Fr. Peter McVerry talk very passionately about ending Youth Homelessness in Ireland.
