Friday and Saturday was however the highlight of the week. 80 TY’s set off early Friday morning for their Gaisce venture activity. They went to Carne in Wexford where they walked 25km over 2 days. They stayed in a hostel where they cooked for themselves on Friday evening. It was a sight to behold and some might say slightly chaotic!!! The week began with a guest speaker from Dun Laoghaire Rathdown’s Sport Partnership. The aim of the talk was to introduce the Active Dance programme. This programme will run over the next few weeks and will culminate in October when the girls will spend a day in UCD learning about health and fitness. On Tuesday afternoon the girls split into three groups and spent the afternoon visiting the National Museum, National Gallery or National Library. Over the coming weeks they will rotate and visit all three learning about the Ardagh Chalice, Carravagio and WB Yeats. Thursday saw the girls begin the work experience programme. Each TY has found her own work placement – jobs vary from vets, pharmacies, primary schools to mention just a few.

On behalf of the students traveling to Lourdes, we would like to thank everyone who has supported our events over the last few weeks. With your help and generosity, we have raised an outstanding total of €1,060. We really appreciate everyone’s kindness and help with our raffle, bake sale, movie night and ice pop sales at Sports Day.
