In the light of speculation in the past few days, we would like to take this opportunity, to reassure parents/guardians and students, that a contingency plan is in place, if we were to receive a directive from the Department of Education and Skills, to close the school. We are very fortunate at Dominican College, Sion Hill that we are well placed to deal very effectively with this contingency, as a result of embedding technology in learning and teaching over the past number of years. Further detailed information will issue to all parents/guardians if we receive advice to close the school. Please see statement from Department of Education and Skills below: "The Dept of Education and Skills is liaising closely with the Dept of Health re Covid-19. Any decision to close schools will be made on public health advice. There is no such advice at this point. Schools should not take unilateral action."

Four 2nd year students competed in the Leinster final of the Junior Mace Debating competition in Clonkeen on Saturday. They all spoke very well, and the standard was incredibly high! A special congratulations goes to Keisha Abdulhaman who has qualified for the National Final on the 21st of March! A word of thanks must also go to our two senior students Amy and Palakshi who were there as adjudicators, and who have shown great support and guidance to the juniors.
