Dear TYs, TY Parents and Guardians Please be aware that some changes have been made to the TY Activity Calendar this week which includes the scheduled Bray-Greystone Hike. Due to a small landslide the local authority have officially closed a portion of the walking path along the Bray to Greystones trail and while members of the public continue to use the path, we cannot as the walk would not be covered by the school's insurance. We can however do the Bray Headland Loop Walk instead. Please note the following changes: Thursday 6th May: Remember you are going on a Hike - wear suitable clothing - i.e. PE uniform and suitable footwear. Bring water, snacks and lunch. Rain gear necessary, don't forget the suncream. 4O are to meet Ms Keogh and Mr O'Carolan at 09.45 at the Band Stand in Bray. From there you will complete the Bray Head Loop Walk. 4O will return to school for their 2pm class and the rest of the afternoon classes. 4R are to meet Ms Keogh and Mr O'Carolan at 13.00 at the Band Stand in Bray. You will leave school at 11.30 and not a minute before!. This gives everyone plenty of time to travel to Bray on a public bus that is scheduled to run every 10 mintues from town in a Covid 19 compliant manner. You will go directly home from Bray at the end of the hike. Friday 7th May 09.00-16.00: TY Tennis-A-Thon in aid of the Irish Guide Dogs Association. All TYs will take part - so please bring in your tennis rackets if you have one. You will wear your school tracksuit for the day and EVERYONE will be taking part over the course of the day. Please see below the day's schedule - when not on the tennis courts playing you will be in class. All four courts are to be used, doubles and single games are to be played. If you are scheduled on the courts at break or lunch time you will be given time to eat in your next class. How to raise money for the Irish Guide Dogs? Each TY student to contribute €10 on the day. You may of course seek out sponsorship from friends and family. Buckets will be placed at the entrance gates to the tennis course for other students to make a contribute to as they come to support over the break and lunch times. The Gardai and local community groups have been in touch with me voicing concerns regarding a number of incidents involving groups of young people in the locality. We are writing to you because some of these groups involved people wearing our school uniform or coats. While acknowledging the challenges in raising teenagers at the best of times, particularly in current times, we are appealing to parents to help ensure their children adhere to the public health guidelines, to help protect everyone in the community. The Parents Association would like to pass this message on. Let’s all do whatever we can to get through the end stages of this pandemic in the safest possible way, protecting those we know in the community, and those we don’t know. I thank you for your understanding and consideration in this matter. B Prendiville

Dear Parent or Guardian. Update on our end of year plans: Due to the restrictions of Covid 19, all end of year celebrations will be limited to students and staff only. Students, teachers and parents have made huge sacrifices during this last year. In order to keep our school community safe, to ensure continuity of education and to allow the LC exams to go ahead for all students our efforts must continue. Within the restrictions and the limited options available to us, we are planning an enjoyable and safe celebration. We are working closely with the 6th year students to ensure a memorable day for all. We are also exploring ways to capture the event, so that all students and their families will have those memories to share. Weather permitting the ceremony will be held on Friday 14th May, 2-4.30pm. Kind regards Bernadette Prendiville
