Badminton Thursday 28th April

There is a badminton match tomorrow for all 1st and 2nd Yr badminton players in St Josephs of Cluny at 1pm start time. The bus will leave school at 12.30 and i will leave at 3 and return to school.

TY Gaisce Adventure 4th and 5th May 2022

Dear TY Students, Parents and Guardians The TYs have been working hard on their Gaisce Bronze Award and next week they will take part in the TY Gaisce Adventure - a 27km hike along the Wicklow Way. This will be supervised by the TY Team and LCF staff. Details of the trip is attached and ALL TY students are invited to take part regardless of their progress of their Bronze Award. The cost of the Adventure is €20 and this can be paid through the school's app. Consent and Medical forms should be completed and returned to the school's reception by Friday 29th April 2022. (These will sent under a separate app message) Here's hoping the weather will hold in our favour as we walk along the Wicklow Way. Ms Early

TY Activity Calendar for April - May 2022

Dear TY Students, Parents and Guardians Welcome back to all after the Easter break. A busy few weeks lie ahead - please find the upcoming calendar of TY Activities for the months of April and May 2022, this will be updated as necessary. Thursday and Friday this week will be busy and students are reminded that they are to wear their brown uniforms, have their LEAP cards at the ready, and bring their lunch to school with them. Also a quick reminder that students are to be aware of their surroundings, and must look after themselves, their friends and classmates whilst travelling around Dublin City. Thank you to all that have returned their Consent and Medical froms for the TY End of Year Adventure to Cork, Limerick and Clare at the end of May. Please note that the cost of this trip is €280 and not the published €380. Payments for the trip can be made through the school's app. The upcoming Gaisce Adventure will take place next week on the 4th and 5th of May and details for this will be published in a separate app message. The next six weeks with fly by so lets work hard and enjoy the last weeks of Transition Year.. Ms Early

Every year Fighting Words (in conjunction with The Irish TImes) invites submissions from young people all over Ireland to a magazine celebrating exciting short fiction writing. Congratulations to Jessica Barry (6th Year) who submitted her short story for consideration and who has been chosen to have her work published in The Irish Times 'Fighting Words' Supplement on May 16th. Inaugural Tri-Loreto Creative Writing Competition - TYs

To help showcase the amazing creativity of our TY students, Loreto College Foxrock, Loreto College St Stephen’s Green and Loreto High School Beaufort, are running our very first annual ‘Tri-College’ writing competition in honour of the Bicentenary of Teresa Ball. We are also delighted to announce that the author Dave Rudden, will be the independent adjudicator for the competition this year. The winning entry will receive a €50 voucher and the runner(s)up a €30 voucher. Winning and runner-up pieces may be published on the respective college websites and/or yearbooks. Details of this competition are attached below - all our TY students will be participating in this competition the week they return from Easter holidays. But in case there are any budding authors keen to get a head start, please see the attached PDFs for the terms and conditions. Please also note that the closing date for entries has been extended by a week from the stated date on the poster.

The very best of luck to Alannah McCarthy in 2nd Year who is heading to Trinity College today to take part in the public speaking workshops for the winners of the Kate Maher Public Speaking Competition. Alannah will also have her winning speech recorded for the Phil Society's YouTube channel.
