Local Solicitor and past pupil Martin Lavan visited TY3 & TY4 today during Ms Reynolds Legal Studies class. He spoke to the students about his day to day work as a solicitor, some interesting cases he has worked on and what it is like to be in the court room. The students had lots of questions for him and we really appreciate the time he gave us today giving such a great insight into the legal system. It is lovely to welcome past pupils back to the Friary.

Study Skills for students and parents Waterford Teachers’ Centre is delighted to be hosting a free webinar on Study Skills Techniques for students, parents and teachers which will examine ways to improve study skills by examining the student's habits and routines on Wednesday, 10th November 2021 at 7 p.m. It will present a studying method that is brain-friendly and improves studying efficiency. It will be delivered by Dr. Áine O’Dea an occupational therapist who has over twenty years clinical and research experience working with children, young people and adults in various educational settings. Ava, Clara and Niamh will be going around to pods selling cookies. They are going to teachers pods at 11 o clock break and student pods at big lunch. Flavours on Monday will be Crunchie, Twix, Oreo and Kinder.

Many thanks to Ava O Shea one of our EPAS Junior Ambassadors. We had good fun recording. Our school was invited by Euroscola to send in advance one QUESTION on the session topic: “The EU in the world” we posed the question: “Having seen the chaos that has ensued with the departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union, is it likely that other countries especially Poland will follow suit? What then for the dream of a united Europe?" Ava spoke clearly and precisely in the video and we all look forward to hearing the answer on the 12th of November at the Euroscola event.

A very busy day was had by Liam Butler, Ms Gardiner and Ms Fennell as enthusiastic and eager TY students auditioned for the main parts in this years musical. All Shook Up! We look forward to seeing who will get these roles. Dance rehearsals are currently in full swing.
