TY1 are creating logo designs in the ArtyKats module with Ms Coffey. The logos will represent well-being and mental health awareness. These will contribute to a group mural at the end of the year. Watch this space!!

UL speaker tomorrow for ALL 6th years tomorrow on zoom at 9.40. Each Wellbeing Teacher at 9.40 has been sent a zoom link. All students MUST attend their 9.40 well-being class. No student is to attend the study-hall. You may work away quietly at the back of the classroom if permitted by teacher. Speakers coming up. Wednesday 13th. Suir engineering ( Canteen 1) and UCD (zoom in classrooms) Wednesday 20th Carlow IT (zoom in classrooms). Ucc and Trinity booked for November. (Zoom or in person. To be confirmed)

The 5th of October is World Teachers Day. Many thanks to the TY students that helped Ms McGann to prepare a snack for all our teachers that are members of the ASTI. Mr Knightly our school steward will be delivering this snack in the morning compliments of the ASTI. HAPPY WORLD TEACHERS DAY !!!!!

Are you in Transition Year? Would you like to know more about art? Do you want to find out about how galleries work? The Douglas Hyde Gallery is delighted to announce the next round of our TY Project offering Transition Year students work experience, with the opportunity to learn new skills and get behind-the-scenes of one of Ireland’s leading galleries. Through a series of daily group meetings and workshops, as well as self-directed research, the groups will design and develop an online learning event as part of the 2022 DHG programme. Through creative, critical and design thinking, as well as practical experience, participants will explore the impact of culture and its influence on inclusion, diversity and access. So if you are in Transition Year in 2021/22, and are passionate about art, galleries and learning, we are looking for enthusiastic students who enjoy working as part of a group. In exchange, we offer training within a friendly atmosphere with the opportunity to: Meet new people Be part of a fun and welcoming team Get behind-the-scenes of public galleries Develop communication skills Develop group working skills Add valuable experience to your CV Apply below to take part in our TY Project work experience in November, with options for online / in-person. Margo Noonan is an Advanced Nurse Practioner in Sexual Assault Forensic Examination at the SATU, which deals with anyone over the age of 14 and is a free and confidential service to anyone of any gender who has experienced rape or sexual assault. Margo delivered an excellent presentation to all TY students. Topics of consent and STIs were discussed.

This year we have 4 classes of TY Mini Company. On Thursday Jonathan Earl of B2B Communications zoomed in to all 4 classes and gave the students some excellent information on how to run a successful Mini company. He discussed online selling and marketing to name but a few topics. Best wishes to all the students with their chosen business venture.

Recent Anonymous Donation

Recently, a generous donation from a Friary past pupil from the 60's was made to the school to help with student welfare. Brother Spring and the Principal, Mr Michael O’ Sullivan, would like to thank the anonymous donor for his kindness and generosity. It is refreshing to know that past pupils continue to take an interest in the school’s development and in the welfare of its students. The donor’s thoughtful action is greatly appreciated by the whole Augustinian community at Duckspool..
