U19 Soccer: St. Augustine's - 3 Blackwater CS - 0 St. Augustine's travelled to Lismore to take on the Blackwater CS in the Munster Schools Senior U-19 Cup and came away with a well deserved and hard earned victory. The first half was very close with both sides missing chances, with the friary lads keeping the ball well and having the better chances. The final score line may have been different if the locals had converted a penalty, brilliantly saved by T.J. in the friary goal. The friary lads upped the pace at the start of the second half and were the first to score with a long range shot from Conal deceiving the keeper. The second came soon after with the friary lads pressing hard.A vicious low shot from 8 yards from Adam Carroll-Lawlor ,who had a great game in midfield ,playing a real captain's part ,finding the back of the net. This second goal was well deserved as the friary were now dominant. A third goal followed with the friary now in full flow , a fabulous volley dipping over the keeper's head from Seamus ,another tireless worker in midfield.Tommy Fennell was everywhere and gave everything in midfield .A fabulous hard tackling defence kept a clean sheet. It was a real team performance.Well done lads who now travel to Tramore in the next round. Thanks to Mr Williams and Fr Gerry for looking after the team. TEAM: T J Wright, Pete Finnegan,Sam Dalton,Leon Cummins, Conal Kelly, Ed Spratt,Tommy Fennell, Seamus O'Sullivan,Brayden Carter-Dee, Adam Carroll-Lawlor and Sonny O'Donnell. Great to see a recent Friary past pupil on the RTE 1 news tonight. Anna Spratt spoke very well about the current crisis in the educational system and the difficulty for student teachers having to attend lectures, complete assignments and thus having to refuse multiple requests from school principals who are looking for substitutes.

Laughter is the best medicine they say !!!!! Ger Carey's Psycho Spaghetti is a brilliant comedy written specifically for young people around the age of 15 to 18. This hilarious one-man show attempts to answer the question just what is going on inside the teenage brain? The show aims to get teenagers to laugh at themselves and view themselves as part of a bigger picture. This show is particularly suitable for TYs and even grown-ups! Today 93 of our TY students had a fantastic and hilarious theatrical experience. It was fantastic to see the phones put away and hear the loud belly laughs during the show. Students also enjoyed the Christmas atmosphere in Waterford city and of course a visit to Penney's. Many thanks to Ms McGrath, Ms McGann, Mr Ger McGrath and Mr Cashin for accompanying the students.
