DeLa Salle...5. St Augustine's...0 St Augustine's travelled to the RSC Waterford to take on strong favourites De La Salle in the Munster Schools U 17 Cup.Unfortunately they were well beaten by a very capable and talented city side despite their valiant efforts. The friary lads opened brightly but were eventually 1 down after some poor defending.2 more goals before halftime put De La Salle 3 up despite the hard work of the away team. The second half saw an improvement with the friary unlucky not to score and unfortunate to concede another 2 to a very skill full home side.Full marks and great credit to the lads who kept going till the final whistle.Well done to all panel members who turned up to training. Thanks to Mr Williams and Mr Walsh for looking after the team. Team: Oran Grant,Jack Power,David Horgan,Shane Power,Diarmuid Mahoney,Brian O'Callaghan,Alex Pettit,Cormac McGrath,Ronan Douris,Tadhg O'Sullivan and Sonny O'Donnell. We are so very proud of the outstanding achievement of our 6th year student, Ellen Maye, from the Leaving Cert. class of 2021. Ellen has been awarded the prestigious Naughton Scholarship which rewards students in the STEM field at university. She has followed in her parents’ footsteps and is now studying Engineering at UCC. When Ellen’s name is mentioned, all of her teachers comment on her dedication to everything she undertook; whether she was competing in the Junior Cert Science Olympiad, in Superschools in Transition year, in the Chemistry Olympiad in 6th year or in her everyday classes and activities, she always gave of her best. Such a bright, focused and hard-working student is deserving of every accolade she receives; we send Ellen heartiest congratulations and every good wish from all in the Friary - go n-éirí go geal leat, a Ellen!

Billy Kelleher as an Ireland South MEP is aware of the need to ensure that voices and ideas of Secondary school students are heard by those making the decisions about the Future of Europe. He launched a call for digital submissions from TY and senior cycle politics students on what they want the European Union to look like in 2046 - 25 years from now. Well done to Óran, Sheileen and Tadhg they have entered an excellent PowerPoint presentation. They made a great effort and did a lot of research to produce a very informative PowerPoint presentation. Best of luck in the competition.
