Well done to our 2 Minor Girls Hockey teams that travelled to Garryduff, Cork to play Regina Mundi in 2 very entertaining games. We won one and lost one, with well taken goals by Siún Kiely, Sarah Gaffney, Aoife Mc Loughlin and Orla Brennan
Euroscola Live Session

Students from 77 schools in 22 countries came together online this morning from 8.30am to 10.30am for the last Euroscola Session of this year. St Augustine's College were honoured to represent Ireland. They exchanged their ideas about Digital Transformation "What is your vision for the digital age" and got the opportunity to ask their questions directly to Vice-President of the European Parliament Nicola Beer. We were delighted and proud to see TY students Diarmuid and David's question on cyber security being discussed at the Euroscola Innovation Lab.

Next week, Monday 13 – Friday 17th December, there are several activities planned to raise money for The Dungarvan Lion’s Club: Monday 13 & Tuesday 14th: TY Christmas Market/Trade fair – Students have the opportunity to play games or purchase Christmas gifts and treats. Wednesday 15th: Wear your CHRISTMAS JUMPER to school – fee €2 Thursday 16th: 1st yr Spikeball competition - €2 Friday 17th Dec: Christmas Concert via zoom – donations gratefully received Christmas cards can be purchased from the Header at breaks times each day for €1 and delivered to students in their classrooms. Students are already participating in the best decorated classroom competition. Festive treats will be available in the canteen tuck shop. Thank you in advance for all your support and Merry Christmas.

6th years students/parents/guardians, The SUSI financial grant will open approximately in March/April for academic year 22.23. If you wish to establish if you MAY be eligible, you could complete the eligibility reckoner from last year just to see if you fall within income thresholds. ?? 6th years, All 6th years have been issued their November/December. If you missed your slot or if I missed you, please call into the office tomorrow to re-schedule. I would like to meet you all ahead of the Christmas break. Gentle reminder: If you are applying to CAO please ensure you have registered prior to the appointment. www.CAO.ie, click on apply. Enter credit card/debit card details. Your CAO number will be generated. Pop into the office once you have your CAO number to fill out the rest of the CAO form. AWARE - Life Skills for Schools Programme

Today TY1 and TY4 had their last session with Eileen Kennedy. She delivered the programme over the past 4 weeks during a double class. This programme helped students to: Understand the interaction between thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Recognise unhelpful thinking styles and learn how they might change them. Build inner confidence and foster positive thinking Learn how to manage anger and irritability. Identify unhelpful behaviours and learn how to make small, practical changes. Understand how to break a problem down into manageable steps, make a plan and put it into action. Improve wellbeing by making small, easy changes to their lifestyles. During the last session they made paper aeroplanes and brought them outside to fly them. Oran won a chocolate Santa as his flew the longest distance!!! Students will receive a certificate from AWARE for their participation in the project.
6th years - UCAS Applications

6th years applying to UCAS 2022. Gentle reminder: UCAS applications need to be PAID and SENT to UCAS by December 10th at the latest. This is the school deadline due to the surge in applications this year. Students applying to UCAS have been working on their applications each week since September twice a week at a minimum. Please ensure to check all your UCAS Application details before you submit it. Also please ensure to use ILC, Irish Leaving Certificate when inputting your subjects. This shows the new grading system. REMEMBER: DO NOT SELECT EIRE LEAVING CERT AS THIS HAS THE OLD LC GRADES. Please call into Ms Moore when we return to school this week to get your application looked over if you wish. You may also email should you have a query while school is closed due to the storm. Please email guidance@staugustines.ie the following by Friday 10th December; 1. A copy of your personal statement. 2. A copy of details for the Principals reference. Please ensure to ask the Principal, Mr. O Sullivan in person if he will be your academic referee for your UCAS application. If it is not feasible to ask in person please ensure to email Mr. O'Sullivan and outline what you are applying for. Principals email: principal@staugustines.ie. We will be processing UCAS references on Friday 10th December and Wednesday 15th December ahead of the Christmas holiday period and well in advance of the January deadline. The final date for our students to send their UCAS applications is December 10th. Please stick to the school deadline of December 10th to allow sufficient time for all references to be completed. Important information. Once your UCAS application is sent it is vital you keep a watchful eye on your email so correspondence from colleges is not missed.
