An Easter Greeting and Blessing

Hello everybody and a very happy Easter I want you to know how proud I am of everything that you have achieved since we saw you last in school on the 12th of March. I would like to congratulate all of you our students for the extraordinary way that you have adapted to remote teaching and learning in such a short space of time. I wish to thank all of the staff especially your teachers for their leadership, teaching and the outstanding support that they have provided over the past few weeks. I know many phone calls have been made to you or your parents in support of both your learning and most importantly your wellbeing. Thank you to your parents and guardians for their support and for their generous words of appreciation and positivity as we checked in with so many of them over the past week or so. I have no doubt you are missing school, missing your friends, missing the company and the conversations in your social areas at break times and lunch times, missing your teachers, and missing the routine of the school day. I can assure you it is no different for me or for any of your teachers. We too are missing our routine and the variety of pleasant and positive interactions we enjoy with all of you every day in Scoil Chriost Rí in classrooms and through very many extracurricular events. I'm proud of the way that you have adapted to using technology to keep up your learning. You are busy checking your emails, using either edmodo or Microsoft Teams as a means to keeping in touch with all of your subjects. You have done exceptionally well and it is time to give yourselves a round of applause and not only yourselves but also your parents for their support and your teachers who continue to help, support and encourage you remotely from their homes. Please keep in touch with your emails, the school app and website for information but do remember you are now on holidays and deserve a break. Enjoy some quality time with your families, continue to practice social distancing and where possible enjoy walking in the fresh air while staying within the two km boundary. The school building may have been quiet for the past few weeks but the fantastic spirit of Scoil Chriost Ri community friendship and work ethic has been evident throughout as we accepted and conquered the new challenge of remote learning. For now the virtual classrooms are closing but well done to students and teachers who have adapted to the new virtual classroom and the day-to-day contacts that have helped us all stay connected enabling us to try to hold on to a sense of what is normal in these challenging times In particular I would like to commend and admire our leaving certificate and junior certificate students who remain focused on their studies in spite of the uncertainty that is portrayed in the media. I am pleased that our Taoiseach has clarified that the exams will take place. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the frontline workers especially those from our school community, parents, family members and past pupils. In conclusion I wish you and your families a very happy and safe Easter. Helen O’Donnell Principal Easter Prayer Dear Lord, Help us Lord to keep the Easter message in our hearts. When all seems dark, draw our attention to the rising Son. When we reflect on the past, guide us to celebrate the new growth it cultivated. Let us draw on the example of Jesus’ leadership, when we fear like the apostles did. Build our strength for each new beginning in Your name, Amen.
