It's that magical time of year again when OLS gears up for its annual Christmas Raffle! In the past three years, our incredible community has rallied together, raising up to €10,000 each time. These funds have been instrumental in enhancing our students' learning experiences, from installing much-needed data projectors in classrooms to supporting our sports pitch fundraiser and various other initiatives aimed at enriching life at Our Lady’s.
The dedication of our Parents’ Council is nothing short of remarkable. They've been tirelessly reaching out to local businesses, and the response has been overwhelmingly generous. We've already received fantastic donations, including a shiny new Chromebook. These contributions, alongside others, will be bundled into 12 deluxe hampers, traditionally valued between €400 and €500 each.
Today, we turn to our parents, our invaluable partners in making this year's raffle truly exceptional. We warmly invite any contribution, big or small, towards our Christmas Raffle. Specifically, we encourage you to explore the possibility of securing donations from your workplaces. While local businesses have been incredibly supportive, there are limits to how many doors our dedicated Parents’ Council can knock on. Hence, we kindly seek your assistance in widening our reach, ensuring that this year's 12 hampers surpass all previous ones in size and quality.
And here's a little secret: we've heard that any donations automatically land you on Santa's nice list!
Well done to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th Year students on completing their November examinations. Over the past week, students have received constructive feedback on how to move their learning forward. The reports are now published and ready to view on VSWARE.
Another busy week at OLS!
2nd and 3rd Years had their retreats this week. Students found the time for meditation and reflection very enjoyable and a chance to reconnect with their classes.
1st Years enjoyed a very informative talk from Miraj Ranpura from the Amazon Web Services. She gave a presentation about the Amazon Get IT programme. Any first year students who are interested in joining the programme which runs on Thursdays from 3.30pm-4.15pm in room 32 should complete the form shared with them on the Google classroom. The first session will begin on the 11th January and it is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn about Cloud technology and design app ideas to solve problems in their communities. So if a future in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is for you, don't hesitiate to join the club!
