On Tuesday, the 5th Year Ag Science and Home Economics classes really enjoyed their educational trip to the National Ploughing Championships in County Laois.

Open Day
Thank you to everyone who represented the school on Open Day today! We had a huge number of volunteers who gave tours of the school, showcased Science experiments, Home Ec and Art projects as well as played sports, served refreshments and, generally, reflected the busy and welcoming school we are!

Swimming Achievements
Swimmers Sylvie Marley and Caitlinn Comerford had a busy summer. Both girls swam at the Irish National Age Group Championships in July, swimming in individual and team events. Sylvie won an individual bronze medal in the U14 200 meter backcrawl and Caitlinn won an individual silver medal in the U14 1,500 meter frontcrawl. Both were part of the 4×100 Individual medley relay, and the team won a bronze medal, against tough opposition. Their achievements at Nationals and throughout the season saw them both achieve a place on the Leinster development programme for the 2024/2025 season. Well done girls!
House Shirts
All the First Years looked fantastic in their new house shirts on Thursday.
Fighting Words
TY4 took part in a creative writing workshop today at Fighting Words in Behan Square. The students wrote song lyrics and composed a song as a class. They even performed their masterpiece at the end of the workshop! Well done to TY4 on a brilliant workshop!

New Addition to OLS Team
Ms O’ Kane has joined OLS as a member of the guidance team. Ms.O’Kane is a counsellor who will work with students on Mondays and Thursdays in room 51. Ms. O’Kane will be completing a number of check and connect sessions with students. If you are meeting with Ms. O’Kane on an ongoing basis, a completed consent form from your parents will be required.

We look forward to welcoming all 1st Year parents/guardians on Wednesday 25th September at 4pm in the GPA for an information session relating to 1st Year. There will be tea and coffee served afterwards followed by a brief Parents' Council AGM at 5.15pm. Original birth certificates and a parents' report of CAT results will be available for collection at sign in.

Lego Donations
A reminder that the school librarian is seeking Lego donations for a new Lego-focused lunchtime club at the school. Donations can be dropped off at reception during school hours for the attention of the librarian. Lego donations of all shapes and sizes are welcome!
