Junk Kouture 2021 update

Lots of hard work happened this year in the OLS TY Fashion class. This was a particularly challenging year as a result of restrictions and lockdowns so we are delighted to congratulate the following 2 teams who made it through to the 2021 JK Regional Finals!!! Representing OLS this year are: 'Tin Tyrant' Designed and constructed by Maura O'Riordan & Hannah Murphy 'Pretty little Lies' Designed and constructed by Beatrice Rath & Ellen Campbell This is a great achievement as this year only 35 designs were chosen from each region; rather than the usual 80 from each. This year's Regional finals will be streamed on the Junk Kouture YouTube channel. Our Eastern Region's final will be on Friday 25th June at 7pm so don't forget to tune in. 7 designs from each region will be selected to go forward to the grand final so we wish 'Tin Tyrant'and 'Pretty Little Lies' lots of luck. Dear parent/guardian, Please see below a request for parent voice from the Active Consent research team in NUIG with whom we are currently partnering in order to inform some of our senior cycle RSE planning. Many thanks. Dear parent/guardian, My name is Dr. Kate Dawson, and I am writing to you on behalf of the Active* Consent team. We are inviting parents/guardians of teenagers (age 13-18) to fill out an anonymous, confidential online survey that explores parents’ ideas on: teenage pornography education, parent-child discussions about pornography, and the influence of pornography in teenagers’ lives. We intend to use the insights you share with us to develop resources that we hope will support parents and their children to safely navigate a world full of sexual media. Your participation is completely voluntary. You can skip any question you do not want to answer, and you can withdraw from the study at any time. All views are welcome. Leaving Certificate Results and CAO offers schedule

Best of luck to everyone in the LC exams. The Department of Education has now stated that the Leaving Certificate results for 2021 are expected to issue directly to candidates through the Candidate Self Service Portal on Friday 3 September. In any subject where a candidate sits the examination and opts to receive Accredited Grades, they will be credited with the better of the two results. Never Such Innocence 2020/21 Competition Winner

Congratulations to Connie Heather, B6, who won first place in an international writing competition called the Never Such Innocence Creative Project in the 16-18 year old category. Her piece is entitled Silent Conflict, an Endless Cycle. Please look through the gallery to read her winning piece.
