Important Notice to all 6th year students and parents about the Leaving Certificate Exam Portal
Created : 19 Apr 2021, 3:34 PM
Archived : 19 Jun 2021, 12:00 AM
The portal for 6th Year students will reopen on Tues 27th April and close on Fri 30th April. This will be the last time for students to access the portal and to change levels for the purposes of accredited grades.
Students now need to make final decisions about their level for the accredited grades and this should be done in consultation with their parents and subject teachers.
If a student wishes to discuss their levels they are welcome to arrange a guidance meeting to do this. Please email Ms Porter/Ms Costello to arrange these meetings.
Please note. If students change levels after the closing of the portal on Friday 30th April (which they can do on the day of the exam) they will still receive an Accredited Grade in the level indicated on the portal.
All students who applied to the CAO should also check their Leaving Certificate number in their CAO account to ensure it is correct. The steps to complete this are listed below
Log on to your CAO Account and go to the Qualifications and Assessment Section.
Please check the details carefully.
Under Year it should read 2021
Under Examination Number please check that your Leaving Certificate Examination Number is entered correctly.
If you need to edit/add your examination information, click on “Modify Details” to do so.

SRI LANKAN NEW YEAR

Sinhalese New Year, is known as Aluth Avurudda in Sri Lanka. It is a Sri Lankan holiday that celebrates the traditional New Year of the Sinhalese people in Sri Lanka. It is celebrated on the 14th April and traditionally begins at the sighting of the new moon. According to Sinhalese astrology, New Year begins when the sun moves from Meena Rashiya (the house of Pisces) to Mesha Rashiya (the house of Aries). It also marks the end of the harvest season and of spring.
In Ireland, Sri Lankan New Year is celebrated in a hotel venue, for example in 2018 it was celebrated in the Radisson, and 2017 in the Talbot Hotel, Wexford. It starts with an informal greeting ceremony, and cultural rituals.
After that - traditional and lively events and games among family and friends take place and there is a real sense of community. Examples of the traditional games and events - kamba adeema- tug-of-war, kotta pora- a huge pillow-fight, doughnut hanging from strings, placing the eye on the elephant, traditional dressing, dancing and musical performances .
Dinner and musical performances and firework displays take place to end the night.

Students who are studying subject(s) entirely outside of school should have filled in a Google Form sent by Ms Ronan and there there is no need to take further action at the moment. If you have not filled in this form and you are studying a subject outside of school, you must contact Ms Ronan immediately.
