Congratulations to 6th year students, Sophie Faughnan and Sophie Kilcullen and to TY students, Rachel Casey and Phoenix Hickson Pitt who represented the school at the Leinster Debating Semi-Finals. Thank you to Ms Conlon and Mr Joyce who worked with the students and attended with them.
Congratulations to Caoimhe McCaul TY, who has recently received a language scholarship from the German Embassy to study in Germany for three weeks in August. The award was based on her Junior Cycle results in German in June. Herzlichen Glückwunsch und viel Erfolg in Deutschland!
The school is delighted to announce that our application for Additional Accommodation, made in November 2021, has received approval from the Department of Education. The school has begun the process of appointing a Design Team for the project and will update staff, students and parents on developments. As you can imagine, the completion of such a project will be some years ahead but it is hoped that students in the junior years might reap the benefits.
This is an exciting project for the school and will enable us to expand our facilities and curriculum for the benefit of our students.
Well done to all of the students who took part in Emmanuel in the Helix yesterday. It was a great day and evening of music and celebration. A big thank you to Mr Kennedy and Ms Gallagher for organising the day and attending with the students.
World Book Day was celebrated in the school last week with a number of initiatives to encourage students to read for pleasure. Some of the activities included book poster competitions, and opportunities for students to 'drop everything and read'. The highlight of the week was the visit, in association with Poetry Ireland, of the esteemed Leaving Cert poet Eileán Ni Chuilleanáin to the sixth years where students got an opportunity to hear Eileán read and discuss some of her poems. Thank you to the English Department for organising the events.
