2A presented a cheque for €2,867.45 to Ms Eimear Kellett from St. Francis Hospice in Raheny. The money was raised from the class calendar fundraiser. Ms Kellett spoke with the class about the services that St Francis Hospice offers and about the new building development that will see over 20 new, individual ensuite rooms to be built at the St Francis Raheny site. Thank you to 2A Ms Hunt for speaking with the class. Well done to everyone involved!
Congratualtions to all of our students who played in Feile over the past two weekends. Issy McGovern (2nd year) and her Raheny Camogie team won the Fèile Camogie Division 3 final yesterday beating Fingallions by 1 point.
In Clontarf GAA, three camogie teams reached their Feile finals yesterday, divisions 1,6 and 8. Div 6 won their game and Div1 and 8 were beaten by just 1 point each.
Fifth Year computer science students are attending an event in Trinity College today, hosted by Code Plus. The event is promoting careers for women in technology. Google, Workday and Sales Force are involved. Thank you to Ms McGuill for organising the outing for the class.
On Tuesday, the first year cricket team played their first match, and won against Kings Hospital. Sophie Lawless (TY) was the umpire and Chole Rogers helped with managing the team.
On Wednesday, the junior team played their first match, against Sandford, and they won. Jenny Wilson (6th year) was very helpful and left her studies to be scorer for the match! It took place in Clontarf Cricket Club.
A big thank you to Ms Rogers for organising the Cricket this year.
Well done to the 8 students from TY who participated in the Model United Nations held in Wicklow Educate Together Secondary School on Friday and Saturday, 19th and 20th April. The students formed two delegations representating South Korea and Bulgaria. Congratulations to Lauren Grant (South Korea) who was voted best delegate in the Health and Youth Affaits Committee. The topics addressed in the committee were as follows:
1. The rising usage of E-Cigarettes in the youth
2. Female genital mutilation
3. Educating the youth on current affairs
Well done to all the 1st Years that participated in the Leinster Rugby Touch Blitz on the Clontarf Road DCC pitches. All the 1st Years had participated in Touch Rugby in their PE classes for 8 weeks at the beginning of the year and this was a great way to see what they learned put into action. And the sun came out to shine on us.
Congratulations to Ellen Leddy Doyle (6th year) who was selected for the Dublin Minor Football team and was awarded player of the match in the Leinster Minor B final at the weekend. Well done, Ellen.
On Thursday the 21st March, 2A hosted a Daffodil Day for the Irish Cancer Society. Students wore yellow or bright coloured clothes to raise awareness for the Irish Cancer Society.
2A’s Easter Egg raffle raised the grand total of €571.
