Junior Rugby - Leinster Metro Finals

The Junior Rugby team qualified for the Leinster Metro Finals in Donnybrook.  The finals were held on the 8th of March to mark International Women's Day.  The team played against Mount Temple, Holy Faith Glasnevin, Kings Hospital and Wesley College.  The won two matches and lost two, so they didn't progress to the finals.  The team has progressed well this year and for most of the team it was their first introduction to rugby. 

Player of the day was awarded to Kate Higgins.

Rowing 1st Years

As part of the PE programme, 1st years have been participating in Indoor Rowing. Two teams were selected from each class to participate in an Inter Schools Blitz against Holy Faith Killester, which took place today.  There was great enthusiasim and energy from all participants.  Well done to all involved and the three medalling teams, that came from HFC.  Thanks to the TY helpers and Rowing Ireland for setting up and facilitating the event.

We would like to congratulate Nicole Carroll (4th year)  and Ava Kavanagh (5th Year) who got an amazing 2nd place with their team, DTC Dublin Thunders Cheerleading, in the UCA All-Star Championships in Orlando.

 

They want to say a massive thank you to everyone for all the fantastic support they received from Holy Faith over the weekend, it meant so much to them.

Soroptimist National Final

Congratulations to Síofra Corrigan of 5th year who won the National Final of the Soroptimist Public Speaking competition in Wexford on Saturday 4th March.  Síofra spoke on Peace and Democracy and was very impressive in the impromptu round where speakers had to talk for 2 minutes on “WAVE”.  

Thank you to Ms Conlon who worked with Síofra in preparing for the various rounds of the competition and who was in the audience with Síofra’s family and friends.

Some of our students, who train with Clontarf Taekwondo, had amazing medal wins at the Leinster Championships last weekend. Molly Mack won Gold, Cara Groenwald won Gold, Orla Hickey won Silver and 1st year student, Grace Burton, won Bronze. Congratulations girls! TY students attended the iWish conference today in the RDS to hear about careers for Women in Stem. Thank you to Ms Peppard and Ms O Sullivan for accompanying the girls.
U14 Gaelic Football

Congratulations to the Under-14 Gaelic football team who had a hard fought victory over Moate Community School today.

Holy Faith Clontarf prevailed on a scoreline of 5-13 to 1-10.

Best of luck to the 32 students from 2nd - 6th year who are singing at the Emmanuel concert in the Helix this evening. Thank you to Mr Kennedy for preparing the students for the event. 
Debating Update

Congratulations to the 4 students from 2nd year who competed in the UCD Junior Debates last week (Zoe Kennedy, Cara Lynch, Evelyn Mendes Healy and Amelie Silvestre). The standard was particularly high on the evening and we wish Zoe and Cara the best of luck in the upcoming quarter finals.  Thank you to Ms Conlon and Ms Daly who have worked with the students and accompanied them on the evening.  Thank you also to the parents and supporters who attended.

The senior debating team narrowly lost out to Largy College in the recent Concern debates.

Best of luck to Siofra Corrigan of 5th year who will compete in the All Ireland Final of the Soroptimist Public Speaking Competition on Saturday 4th March. Thank you to Ms Conlon who has worked with Siofra.
