2D Fundraiser for St. Francis Hospice.

Congratulations to 2D who presented a cheque for 3,862 to Ms Lilian Hunt from St. Francis Hospice in Raheny. The money was raised by 2D's class calendar fundraiser. Ms Hunt spoke with the class about the services that St Francis Hospice offers and about the new building development that will see over 20 new, individual ensuite rooms built at the St Francis Raheny site. Congratulations to 2D and thank you to Ms Hunt for speaking with the class. A big thank you to Ms Daly who coordinated the fundraiser and to SNAP printing (Jervis) who printed the calendars. Well done to everyone involved!

Debating Success

Congratulations to Siofra Corrigan (5th year) who is through to the National Finals of the Soroptimist Public Speaking competition which will be held in Wexford in March. Her speech was on Peace and Democracy. She also had an impromptu speech. 

Congratulations to the 2nd Year junior debating students who got through to the Octo Final of the UCD debates, they are Evelyn Mendes Healy, Amélie Silvestre, Zoe Kennedy and Cara Lynch.

And finally, congratulations to the senior debating team who are through to the next round of the Concern debates. They are Sophie Faughan, Sophie Kilcullen, Siofra Corrigan, Ella Bracken & Olivia Hogan.

Thank you to the teachers who continue to support the debating teams - Ms Conlon, Ms Daly & Ms Mackey. 

 

Junior Camogie Final

Our Junior Camogie team played their Dublin Cup final against Portmarnock in Trinity Sports Ground, Santry on Friday 27th January.  Holy Faith battled hard against a tough Portmarnock side who were in the lead at half time on a scoreline of 3-0 to 1-1.


The girls continued to fight hard leaving Portmarnock scoreless in the second half but unfortunately it just wasn’t enough to win the game. The game ended 3-0  to 1-2 to Portmarnock. Hard luck and well done to all involved. A big thank you to Ms Furlong and Ms Flanagan for their work with the team and to the supporters who went along today.

Junior Camogie

Our Junior Camogie team played their semi-final against Manor House in DCC Alfie Beirne Road on Monday 23rd last. An excellent first half performance saw the girls in the lead at half time on a scoreline of 2-2 to 0-1.  

 

The second half saw Holy Faith continue to battle against a solid Manor House side and come out on top with the game ending 3-6 to 1-2. Well done to all involved.

 

This brings the girls through to the competition final which will be played this Friday 27th January.

Killester Basketball

Congratulations to Sarah Courtney of Transition Year who is part of the Killester senior basketball team that defeated Trinity Meteors in Sunday's national final.

The Killester team went in as underdogs but emerged clear winners, 92 -70.

Concern Debates

CONGRATULATIONS to the Concern debating team that are through to Knockout Round 2 of the Concern Debates 2022-23 programme!  The adjudicators were very impressed by all the speakers in last Thursday’s dabate against St Joseph’s, Rush.  Good luck to Ella Bracken, Siofra Corrigan, Sophie Faughan and Sophie Kilcullen in the next round against Largy College, Monaghan.  Thank you to Ms Conlon and Ms Mackey who co-ordinated the team and to Olivia Hogan who assisted.

 

The Motion for the Knockout Round isGroups like Just Stop Oil should follow Extinction Rebellion’s lead and give up on disruptive action.’    Holy Faith will be proposing the motion.
