A new 6-part docu-series, 'Keep it up' starts soon on RTÉ. The series puts star basketball player and Ireland’s favourite P.E. teacher Emer O’Neill’s theory to the test as she brings together 9 teenage girls who have either given up sport or never played. The results are explosive. The girls will have their say and even with all opportunities, will they Keep it Up? The show follows the teenagers on their journeys both individually and as a group as they explore the complex relationships many young girls have with sport. about.rte.ie/2022/04/22/brand-new-rte-keep-it-up-starts-may-3rd-on-rte2-and-rte-player/ Exercise through sport or in any other way, is hugely important for us all and we in Taylor's encourage everyone to get their running / walking shoes on!

For the first time in two years, our girls are enjoying a well deserved trip abroad. 48 students and 5 teachers are soaking up the sun and having an active and fun time in Barcelona. This picture shows the group in the Nu Camp, home of Barcelona FC. This was followed by a trip to Montserrat and swimming in the sea. We all hope that our students and teachers enjoy the rest of the trip. Thank you to Ms. Knight who has organised the trip and to Ms. Barrett, Ms. Cradock, Ms. McGrath and Ms. Mooney who have all made this trip possible.

Our school has participated in the Formula Female scheme since its beginning. Each year, the girls spend a day learning about motorsport including the mathematics of cornering, building sensors, pit stop challenges and of course racing go-karts themselves. This year the top drivers from the day attended the Connacht finals to select drivers to compete in the All-Ireland finals. The drivers all performed well but Eve Lyons (shown with organiser Nicci Daly), was named overall champion. She will now undergo additional training and compete in the finals. Well done to Chloe Cubbard, Liadh O Connor, Sienna O Brien, Mikayla Murray, Lillian Sabat Skibinksa and to Eve Lyons who progresses to her karting training camp.

Several of our TY students created some beautiful hampers which were gifted to residents at the Clarinbridge Care Centre. This was part of their YSI class and the social issue they decided to try to make a difference in was loneliness, they decided to deliver hampers to the residents in the care home as they felt that it would make them feel connected, loved and also occupy some of their time with the contents. The girls involved were Aoibhin Fox, Angela Galeon, Meera Joshi, Anna Khvedelidze, Martha Mellotte, Martha McGovern-Kyne, Deborah Mateta & Cara O'Brien. The staff and residents were delighted with the girls’ efforts and they brought great energy and joy to the center. Well done girls, you raised the spirits of many people.
