TY Activities Update 30th March 2022

Dear TY Students, Parents and Guardians Please find attached an updated activity calenadar which will bring us up to the Easter Holidays. Please note that TY students will start school from 10.00 and will finish at 15.00 on Monday 4th, Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th of April. There will be no school for TY students on Thursday 7th April. On Friday the 8th TY students will make their way to Seapoint Rugby Club for 11.130 and the Tag Rugby Tournament will finish at 14.30. Students will make their own way to and from Seapoint Rugby Club. Traditionally each preformance will have a Musical Raffle for the audience to participate in and here is a shout out to parents asking if any business can offer spot prizes for the Musical Raffles. If your business can help out with this please make contact with Pauline O'Toole, Musical Director on pot@cbcmonkstown.ie or myself at ty@loretofoxrock.ie. Today after school there is Minor Tennis, Athletics, Basketball and a strength and conditioning class )open for all years) in the gym. Please bring your gear for tennis if you want to be entered on a school tennis team. Please see your summer timetable for year groups.
Reminder - Athletics

A reminder to all our students that Athletics is on after school today on the running track in Charlesland, Greystones. The bus will leave school at 1.30 and will return at 4. Any student who wants to compete in both the East Leinster Athletics and Loreto Athletics must attend. Minor tennis is also on today but any student attending athletics can do tennis on Friday instead.
TY Musical Rehersal Schedule 29th March - 3rd April 2022

Dear TY Students, Parents and Guardians As opening night is fast approaching the rehersal schedule will intensify over the upcoming days. Please see attached an updated schedule for this week - this may change. On Thursday the Leads and a number of other students will spend the day in CBC. Those students will receive an email from me this evening. If you do not receive an email you will be in school as normal until 13.15 - do not leave class a minute before the bell goes! The full cast will then head down to CBC to report in at 2pm. The History and Classics students are taking part in a tour in the National Museum of Ireland on Thursday from 10.45 - 13.00. Further details will be given in Mr O'Sullivan's briefing. Students will need their LEAP card and lunch. Once the tour is over students will head straight down to CBC Monkstown for the afternoon's full cast rehearsal at 2pm. Quick reminder that CATS testing will take place at 10am on Wednesday 30th April for those students in 4R and 4E (plus those that missed out last week). Please ensure that your devices are fully charged up before you come to school. Good luck everyone

TY Treasure Hunt

The TY History class organised a Pirate themed treasure hunt for first years. It was a great success. Well done to the TYs for their great organisation and commitment, and to the first years for their great teamwork and participation. Congratulations to the two winnings teams from 1 Ward and 1 Poyntz. Winni Chan, Aadhya Pathak, Amelia Scallan, Naomi Redmond, Mary O'Callaghan, Audrey Sereda, Cara Marston and Lydia Wang.

A reminder to all 2nd Yr parents about tomorrow mornings coffee morning at 9.15. Parents will be welcomed at the main reception and brought to the school canteen. There will be tours of the school at 10am given by our TY Students. We look forward to seeing you all.
TY French Trip - Semaine de la Francophonie

As part of Semaine de la Francophonie (French Week) last week, TYs enjoyed a great "excursion scolaire" to Chez Max in the Alliance Française for a "goûter" followed by a French language tour of the National Gallery to see, amongst many works of art, some of the Impressionist artists they have been looking at in French class. Merci à Madame Corcoran pour avoir tout organisé!

Each CAO applicant is welcome to bring up to 2 guests. As places are limited, the event is for 6th Year students, A-Level students, QQI-FET applicants and mature applicants applying now to the CAO. If you are a 5th Year student, there will be a June Science Summer School you are welcome to attend and if you are a Transition Year student, please note that our TY events are finished for this school year. Teachers are also welcome to attend. Details about the event are as follows: 9:30am-10:10am: Science Centre guided tours by current students.
