TY Treasure Hunt

The TY History class organised a Pirate themed treasure hunt for first years. It was a great success. Well done to the TYs for their great organisation and commitment, and to the first years for their great teamwork and participation. Congratulations to the two winnings teams from 1 Ward and 1 Poyntz. Winni Chan, Aadhya Pathak, Amelia Scallan, Naomi Redmond, Mary O'Callaghan, Audrey Sereda, Cara Marston and Lydia Wang.

A reminder to all 2nd Yr parents about tomorrow mornings coffee morning at 9.15. Parents will be welcomed at the main reception and brought to the school canteen. There will be tours of the school at 10am given by our TY Students. We look forward to seeing you all.
TY French Trip - Semaine de la Francophonie

As part of Semaine de la Francophonie (French Week) last week, TYs enjoyed a great "excursion scolaire" to Chez Max in the Alliance Française for a "goûter" followed by a French language tour of the National Gallery to see, amongst many works of art, some of the Impressionist artists they have been looking at in French class. Merci à Madame Corcoran pour avoir tout organisé!

Science Centre Tour & Q&A for 2022 CAO Applicants
The Dean of Science, Professor Jeremy Simpson, is hosting an event on Saturday 9 April 2022 in the UCD O’Brien Centre for Science for current CAO applicants interested in Science DN200. Each CAO applicant is welcome to bring up to 2 guests.
As places are limited, the event is for 6th Year students, A-Level students, QQI-FET applicants and mature applicants applying now to the CAO. If you are a 5th Year student, there will be a June Science Summer School you are welcome to attend and if you are a Transition Year student, please note that our TY events are finished for this school year. Teachers are also welcome to attend.
Details about the event are as follows:
9:30am-10:10am: Science Centre guided tours by current students. Tours take 20 minutes.
10:30am-11:30am: Presentation on Science DN200 by the Dean of Science, Professor Jeremy Simpson, followed by a Q&A with the Dean and Associate Dean, Associate Professor Tara McMorrow.
11:30am-12:30pm: Science Centre guided tours by current students. Tours take 20 minutes.

Congratulations Alannah McCarthy - Kate Maher Public Speaking Competition Finalist

Huge congratulations to Alannah McCarthy (2nd Year) who has been named as one of the 10 finalists in the TCD Kate Maher Public Speaking Competition.
Alannah submitted a recorded speech on the competition's feminist prompt : "Many of the stories we hear as children revolve around a damsel in distress. Give a speech
about how these stories shape our culture and about the fairytales you would have liked to have heard growing up."
Alannah will now visit Trinity for a day of public speaking workshops and to have her speech filmed for the PhilSpeaks YouTube channel (tcdphil).

To facilitate the Graduation Ceremony of the class of 2022 school will end at 1.15pm on Tuesday, 24 May. Please note that the school bus will collect students at the earlier time of 1.30pm.
