Thank you to everyone who took part in and donated to Funky Footwear Friday in aid of Team Hope Christmas appeal. We loved the creativity shown by everyone and the odd socks, the children's own shoe designs and the odd shoes brought a smile to everyone's face. We would like to thank everyone for their generosity as in total we raised €820. Well done everyone! A special thanks to Ms. Conway who organised the fundraiser.

School Building Project Update

We received some excellent news from our Project Manager and the Dept of Education & Skills last week. After many years of planning and waiting our building project is due to commence in the coming weeks. We are finalizing some details with our design team and building contractors but anticipate that we will see workers on site in 2020. This has been a long time coming and while we know there will be disruption to daily school life along the way, the end result will be fantastic for the children. We will provide a more detailed update along with plans and drawings in the near future. There will also be an opportunity view the project plans with Mr. Lynch via zoom in December. In the meantime we have attached a birds eye view of what the completed school building will look like.

At this time of year the foyer in St Conleth & Mary's is usually full of shoe boxes wrapped in bright, festive Christmas paper. These boxes are full of toiletries, jellies, hats, gloves and toys and are going to be shipped to children all over the world. We have always taken part in the Team Hope Christmas shoe box appeal and look forward to it every year. Unfortunately it has become another victim of COVID 19. Team Hope have asked us to be creative and to try to raise funds so that they can continue their work this Christmas. We thought long and hard and came up with the idea of Funky Footwear Friday. We are asking all the children to wear unusual footwear (odd socks, odd shoes, decorate shoes) this Friday 20th November and to bring €2 with them. We hope that the day will be fun and that as many people as possible take part. All those taking part in Funky Footwear Friday do not need to wear their school uniform on Friday. St Conleth and Mary's has always had a proud tradition of participation in GAA activities. Today our 3rd & 4th classes began work with Kildare GAA coach Johnny Doyle as we look to be recognised as a GAA 5 Star school. Everyone had a great time taking part in all the activities. Thanks to Ms Byrne and Mr Dooley for organising the coaching sessions over the next few weeks.

As part of Science Week 2020, the children in Room 13 were busy investigating and experimenting the effects of sugary drinks on the enamel of our teeth and how it leads to tooth decay. On Friday, we will make observations and record our results after a whole class discussion.
