St Declan of Ardmore

TY 2 and TY 3 students went on a trip to Ardmore. As part of Ms Dowley’s Religion class students are studying the life of St Declan. Today students enjoyed a guided tour with Liam Suipéil lasting 2.5hours. During this time he discussed pilgrimage, local history & folklore and they visited historical sites around Ardmore. Then the students participated in a guided meditation & visualisation exercise on the beach. Many thanks to Ms Dowley and Mr K O Sullivan for traveling with the students.

Best wishes to Ava O Shea in TY4 she has submitted an amazing cake to the Kenwood Young Baker Competition. Take a look at her stunning creation. Closing date is not until the 18th of October so go on get baking remember you must submit a single tier cake with the theme dreams. Open to 12 to 18 year olds.

6th years applying to UCAS have had 80 mins of UCAS class preparation time this week to ensure they start the process ahead of schedule. These classes take place each week until applications are finalised. Please see video below for a step by step guide on how to set up a UCAS application. Please be aware, you ARE applying under the school ( not as an individual applicant). I will issue a buzzword to you so you are registered under St. Augustine’s College. By registering under the school, Mr. O Sullivan (Principal) and I can review your UCAS application and also submit your reference electronically. Blackberry Jam

After TY students picking some beautiful blackberries last week during self sufficiency class, this week Ms Cashin brought in some delicious jam. The jam was made using the foraged friary blackberries. This raises an awareness of where our food comes from and how we can reduce food miles.

TY Gardening students were sowing seeds indoors this allows tender plants to be started off earlier in the season. When they have grown into young plants, they can be planted outside in the garden or vegetable plot once the weather is warm enough.

6th year Students applying to UCAS for medicine/dentistry/veterinary please ensure you register for the relevant entrance assessment such as UKCAT, BMAT, etc. For Medicine courses in UCAS, the UKCAT is required. (This is the UK version of the HPAT). Please be also aware that The BMAT is required for other medical courses. See link below for medicine UKCAT registration. Deadline to register is September 22nd. UKCAT. How to Register and Book. The deadline to register for the 2021 UCAT is 22 September 2021 at 12 noon (BST). UCAS do not make exceptions to this deadline. UCAS expect the vast majority of candidates to sit their UCAT in a Pearson VUE test centre. The UCAS Test Centre Locator shows the test centres which are authorised to deliver the UCAT in 2021.
