TY4 completed their Desk to 5km, they trained over the last few weeks with Mr Cashin during PE. Another challenge lies ahead next week. Well done all!

All TY students enjoyed a 2 hour workshop today with Amy from Dance Concepts. They learned a dance routine for 3 of the songs from The Greatest Showman. Great fun was had by all !

TY students enjoyed making white soda bread in the Home Economics room today with Ms McCloskey. A very useful skill to acquire. A beautiful aroma was wafting along the corridor!

There has been an increase in 6th years keen to apply to UCAS due to the surge in points this year. Medicine/veterinary/dentistry applications ucas deadline is October 15th. The school deadline to allow sufficient time for references to be completed by Mr O Sullivan and Ms Moore is September 30th. All other courses have a ucas deadline of January 15th. The school deadline is November 30th. See link below from UCAS official website on how to write a UCAS personal statement. One page typed, times new Roman 12. Email draft to Ms Moore guidance@staugustines.ie. Please ensure to bring an electronic copy to UCAS class Monday and Tuesday next week. This class will take place for the next month to allow students time to input their details. 6th year appointments posted on office door. Please ask teachers permissions before attending. If you need to swap with a friend it is no problem to accommodate tests etc. If your name isn’t there please let me know and I’ll amend it. Please adhere to covid guidelines. If you are isolating please email me in advance and I will send you a zoom link. No recording permitted. It is very important that all students update their online profiles on Careersportal before the appointment. www.careersportal.ie UCAS class period 8 Mondays (computer room 16b) and Tuesdays (multimedia Room 7d) All students applying to UCAS must have their personal statement in motion by next week and must bring it to UCAS class. Speakers booked for October/November so far are: UL, UCC, Carlow IT, WIT, Suir Engineering. I am still waiting on UCD, Trinity, UCAS and Eunicas. They will all take place virtually.

Today students enjoyed foraging for Blackberries in the hedgerows around the school this was part of their Self Sufficiency module with Ms Cashin. Blackberries are a virtual powerhouse of nutrients. They are packed with essential nutrients, antioxidants and loads of vitamin C.
