There are huge benefits to Work Experience, students gain an understanding of the work environment and what employers expect of their workers. Students have an opportunity to explore possible career options. They gain an increased self-understanding, maturity, independence and self-confidence. Ms Pender our Work Experience Coordinator checks in on the students to see how they are getting on and to thank the employers for giving this opportunity to our students. Well done to all our TYs who were busy as bees today when Ms Pender called to visit.

The GLOBE Ireland Air Quality Campaign is a school-based citizen science project to assess traffic-related (nitrogen dioxide) air pollution outdoors at schools in Ireland. This is an educational project designed to raise awareness about air pollution and showcase the potential of citizen science to gather unique datasets and insights into our environment. Many thank to Mr C Walsh, as today he brought the TY students out and they placed the sampling tubes around the school grounds where they will remain for 1 month. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in meaningful citizen science, learn about air pollution, and gather data that supports the EPA’s decision making around Ireland’s environment.
